May produce a few hints to hubby for my birthday as it took Dymocks 6 months to get the first book and apparently it was the publisher's fault not theirs as to why it took so long to get to Australia.

Oh dear. Sorry about that, Jube. I meant to mention to everyone: you know how I've been talking about the possiblity that ebooks could extend the range of US/Brit books so people living other places in the world can get them if they want (and vice versa, for that matter). It looks like the new Google ebook program is going to be available to most countries and the choice has to be made individually by the author or publisher whether or not they're available in a given country. This may not help with new books unless they're self-published (and I suspect more and more may be as the NY market becomes increasingly difficult) but it will certainly help with backlists. And I believe they're proposing to cross-format with e-pub so you'll be able to use most devices to read them on.

Hello Eann

Thanks, I got the book of Dougal's Diary as an e-pub.
I'm reading Catalyst now. Not finished yet.

Oh good! Hope you enjoy them both.

Del Rey has started a contest to promote CATACOMBS at Suvudu.com
It's for the most decked out pet for the holidays--not just cats but all pets should enter. Anne and I are to judge and a copy of CATACOMBS is the prize. Check it out!

I would like to enter but my cat certainly not, I can't even hold her. The last time I tried I had scatches on my left upper arm of about 20 cm, and a lot of them to. So I wait until Catacombs is out as a PB and buy it.

FYI, Ingrid and anybody else with the same situation: To dress my cats up without inconveniencing myself, I use Photoshop. Pancho, aka Mr. Panchito of the House of Panchito Fine Feline Fashion (Cat Couture) is the (self-appointed) chief kitty costume designer for UnitedCats.com and uses Photoshop for all his friends. There are also all kinds of sites like Blingee that have accessories, glitter, hats, and holiday attire you can fit to your cats. It is of course purely for silliness since cats are plenty decorative all by their own furry selves.

I've come across another like of many of your co-written books, over at AMCF|NKT, used audio media like myself, and I've shared the links to here.

LET YOU WRITE!!! I did not know that you let yourselves dictate by anyone about what you could or could not write! If you want to write, nobody should stop you!

But but but, if the missing link turns out to be that kefer-ka is responsible for humans being telepathic and telekinetic and all due to the ancient race of Egyptian cats, well then I do not particularly believe it or wish to read about it. I have always loved the Rowans books due to the actual credability of the telepathic abilities as a natural evolving among people. In my view Anne's own experiences as the foundation to write about the telepathic topic are very credible and shared by many others, including me. I have only met Anne once, but she related some of her experiences which were her personal foundation for writing the telepatic topic books. Many other authors have described telepathic abilities, and no cats were involved. So I do not particularly like this pathway of connecting cats to the Rowan's time, obviously

Having reread Catalyst and just finished Catacombs I think it is two great and fun stories in themselves, especially Catacombs had many relations to other books by e.g. Ursula le Guin and, of course, the big basilisk in Harry Potter, and egyptian mythology, and it was great fun to recognise elements from other books and films, I had some great laughs. The prehistoric Egyptian cats has been bought out in the open! Catacombs is very entertaining and an obvious tribute to cats and people loving cats!

Now I have a great excuse to reread the Pegasus and Rowan books in order to see where the cats are hiding in the books.

A very merry Christmas to you, Eann Elisabeth Ann, and a merry Christmas to all cat lovers and readers of these lovely books!!

"The name rowan is believed to derive from the Norse runa - "a charm". It was often planted outside houses to ward off witches. On May Day a spray of rowan leaves was hung over doors to repel evil, and wells dressed with rowan to keep witches away. The rowan, or mountain ash, is found commonly in Scotland, sometimes clinging to a rock face."

Nina, I'm glad you ended up liking Catacombs. It's true we can write if we want to but if we can't get paid for it, which involves somebody else deciding to publish it, then that cramps our style a little.
These books don't counter what Anne set out in the Rowan books but we could not write them in the same world as the books in that series were published by a different publisher. It would have been fun to connect the timelines.

Hubby was looking at a Kindle for xmas but we ran out of time to have a look for one so thinking that it would be good for him as a b'day gift instead.

Will have a look at the Suduvu comp but our poor dog is having a case of the hee-bee-jeebies at the moment. Pyscho dog thinks someone is driving her nuts and we know it isn't any one of us so honestly can't work it out. Can't find anything in her paws or coat (tics, broken bones etc) and there's only 2 things we can think of is, she's been chasing locusts and/or when hubby's taken her for a walk, she may have found a bit of blue-green algae in the water which isn't good for animals or humans. So we're keeping an eye on her at the moment.

Had a look at the rules and regs for your competition - unfortunately I need to be a resident of the 50 states of the USA so looks like those of us who live overseas will not be able to participate. Thanks for the info though.

Really? That sucks. I didn't know it was only for US residents. Sorry guys. I would have asked that it be extended but I suppose it's cause the publisher feels too broke to pay for the postage overseas too. . .

She's better today. A friend brought his dog around and she perked up enough to go out and play in the back yard.

I was thinking that I should be asking my sister if she'd put a pet photo in as she lives in the USA but I don't know if she's got a pet or not as she's moved back to LA, after living in Seattle for the past couple of years.

Hoping you and the cat's meow (menagerie) are having a great xmas or soon to be xmas

We were not chuffed with the Dr Who Christmas special this year. A few glaring mistakes were made, and kinda spoiled things for the family diehards.

I'm not a Dr. Who diehard though. I've rarely watched it since the episodes with the curly haired dude and the long scarf. I did catch a few of the episodes with David Tennant, who was quite good, I thought, but I sort of enjoyed the Christmas show--it was nice to see a story that actually took OFF off on A Christmas Carol instead of repeating it with an angle (I've done one of those at the publisher's request and tried to do a good job and I think the results are entertaining but really, that story never needed improving. It was a great book to begin with). I didn't catch the glaring mistakes and don't know if you mean within the story itself or in terms of the Dr. Who canon.

He's quite right .... if I don't have that sleep, he reckons I am "dog eat dog ... downright bitchy" so I took his advice and had a sleep. By the way went to Dymocks and they said your next book should arrive on their doorstep in 2 weeks time for me. It would be a belated gift from my father-in-law as well as a couple of Dr Who dvds YES

I don't quite understand what you mean, GinnyStar. Who didn't care for it? I don't understand why the SF BookClub would have made Catacombs its featured holiday selection if they didn't care for it. Not everyone will like every book but unfortunately, the negative people always seem to be more aggressive about voicing their opinions.
