Default Establishing guidelines!

Okay, from the poll it seems we have enough interest to get this group started. But first we do need to establish some guidelines for the frequency of posting photos and giving feedback to others. These guidelines can be changed as we get going and see what works, and just how popular the group is -- we just need somewhere to begin.

FYI, around 16 people expressed interest in this group.

My initial thought is that participants post up to 5 individual photos and one photo set* per month. Per each photo you post, you should try to critique 10-15 photos of others.

What do you think? Is this too many, too few?

*Photo sets -- my idea with this is that occasionally someone might take a whole collection of photos on a similar theme, and want to see which photos others pick out as the best of the set and hear feedback on what could be improved about the set in general.

Yes, sounds good. And we'll see what develops while we're at it, ok?

Not everyone will post 5-15 photos and 1 photo set. What about as an option that the guidelines can be for 1 or the other or both? Not everyone will come up with a straight 5-15 photos plus a photo set of something so having that option means we can positively, negatively or all things fair in love and war, can give our best opinion on the subject matter given. That's just me, thinking out aloud.

Why not just start your own thread and put up a photo or two, like I did, and wait for the comments. You can add more as time goes along, and anyone interested can have their own thread to do the same. This is being established as a forum for critiqueing (is that a real word?) each other's photos, not for posting a mass of "How I Spent My Summer Vacation" snapshots, after all.

Just my own thoughts on the subject. I lean more toward having very few rules or guidelines, is all.

Ok, I'm in on this one...I'm so bad about following through most days. Sorry everyone! But, no I'm serious. I would love to hear feedback about some of my photos. I've always had this as a hobby. But...please! Can someone help put into laymans terms the easiest way to post pics?? Sorry...I'm a dunce when it comes to posting pics. And Cheryl, are you asking for the pics to be posted as is? Or through a site such as photobucket? Or does that matter. Also, are there rules to commenting on others photos? (not that I think there should be anything other than a positive response.) I'm not a stern critic and only know a handful of terms I might use to discuss pics. Ok...that's my bit. I like this idea. I think it's fair to have guidelines. Thanks for coming up with this idea.

Oh and just want to reiterate that I think having a seperate thread for this is a great idea. ok..now I'm done.
