Default I have a Question...

If this query could also be passed on to a certain son of a certain writer I'd love to know what he and that writer say about this:

A character survives firehead, but is left blinded. Could He/She Impress a Firelizard? I know he or she would definitely be left out of Draconic Impressions...

What do you think?

Anne doesn't answer questions like this and I suggest you ask Todd yourself

Todd has a contact form on his website and until recently he did answer questions from fans. Though I don't know if he answers all in the old setup of his site (recently changed) there was a long list with emails from fans and answers. So I'd say: go ahead, Purp, and try!

tho, if Impression of fire-lizards is by feeding the greedy hatchlings, then I wouldn't see why blindness would be an issue...
Mind if I steal your idea, Purp?

I'll tell you... A friend of mine has a character on an online Pernese game, that is blinded due to firehead, and was thinking about getting one... The character keeps eyes closed alot but has a stick to help navigate through places with chairs and tables...

Makes a lot of sense to me. I've a blind character, a boy who was born that way, who also uses a stick. He's also an apprentice baker. I think even on Pern it can be done. Where there's a will, there's a way.

remember that you can be blind without not being able to see! I can't remember what the official distance is now, but if you can see less than there- I assume WITH glasses (as I'm not blind but I can't see past my nose-literally- without glasses)- you are considered blind.

yep, can't remember all the stuff now- it was for a GCSE electronics project so it was at least 4 years ago. I think it's more so the NHS know who they can't wring money out of!

Yep. Vision of 20/200 or worse even with glasses is considered legally blind. I'm legally blind well below that threshhold. 20/240 in one eye, 20/360 in the other. Which basically means that what a person with perfect vision sees 240 feet away, I won't see until it's 20 feet away. That make sense?

Tresa, how do you manage to see the computer. My sight is pretty bad, but not where I can't see the computer, with my glasses on naturally.

By sitting within six inches of it! LOL. Seriously though, I've upped the screen resolution a little. I also have the Display and Accessibility Options set so I can see things comfortably.
I've also learned to use what vision I have as much as possible. I may hate the 8pt default Display settings, but I know what to expect and can make out enough to know when I've got it switched to the right thing. For the computer, most things are set to either Large (Icons) or 14pt Arial Black font.

No. One of 2 in the family who don't at all. That's why I'm lucky.
