Default All the Weyrs of Pern Audiobook

Does anyone know if ATWoP audiobook read by Mark Rolston come in CD format? I have seen that it was in cassette format in my searches. I am going to borrow the edition done by Mel Fostler and want to compare it. Has anyone listened to both versions?

I am not 100% sure, but I think I listened to DoP read by Mel Foster. If its the guy I'm thinking of, I hated the way he read it.

Just looked on AMazon and the AtWoP version depicted there with Mark as narrator is the 2 cassette abridged version read by Anne herself! That is the only one I have, and let me assure you that is different from anything else or anything Pern you have ever heard

The Foster (sic) version is unabridged, so if the Rolston version is an abridged version they are definitely NOT the same.
If they are both unabridged I am assuming that differences (apart from the voice and quality of reading) will be minimal.

Having said that... there are many differences bewteen the written UK and US versions (with the UK having about 40 minor character more than the US!) so if the audio books are would have these seperate versions as their origins you would be in for a surprise

There is a unabridged version from Rolston but I can only find refs that it is cassette only. (10 Tapes) and there was a two tape abridged version from him as well. I was listening to a sample of the Mel version and I'm not sure but it kinda sounds like he is a monotone speaker. Too bad that Dick Hill did not do that one since he has done most of the Pern books. I will wait and see when the rental comes in from Simply Audiobook program to make full judgement. I might just end up trying to find a copy of Rolston's on Cassette and digitize it since my car does not have a cassette player.

I managed to clean up my digital copy to remove the "Insert Cassette 2" stuff so it should sound much better. I am waiting for my loaner copy of Mel Foster to arrive in mail to listen to it and compare it to the Mark Roslton version.
