Default Question for Pam

To Pam (and others who live in the western USA),

Yesterday I received the following email report from spaceweather.com:
Quote:
FIREBALLS AND METEORS: As forecasters predicted, the Leonid meteor shower
peaked during the late hours of Nov. 17th, favoring sky watchers in Asia with an
outburst of 100+ meteors per hour. Just as the outburst was dying down, an even
bigger event took place over the western USA. Something hit Earth's atmosphere
and exploded with an energy equivalent of 0.5 to 1 kiloton of TNT. Witnesses in
Colorado, Utah, Idaho and elsewhere say the fireball "turned night into day" and
"shook the ground" when it exploded just after midnight Mountain Standard Time.
Researchers who are analyzing infrasound recordings of the blast say the
fireball was not a Leonid. It was probably a small asteroid, now scattered in
fragments across the countryside. Efforts are underway to measure the
trajectory of the asteroid and guide meteorite recovery efforts.
Did anyone see or hear this? Was it on the local news? Have any new superhero babies appeared? I bet there will be a search for the fragments.

It would have been scary if it had landed in one's own backyard, that's for sure but it would have made one famous too - "look at me Ma, I found a big rock and as sure as hellfire, it wasn't there this morning!"

It landed on my house, that's why its taken so long for me to notice this! (Just kidding of course, in reality I've been terribly busy lately.) We were fast asleep (we're normally out by 10.) I'm not even sure the dogs barked. I think I read about it the next day in the local paper, but they carried the Associated Press story, not anything with a local view on it.

Our "local" (4 hours away) tv news is out of Albuquerque and we don't often watch it, so if they carried the story I don't know..

I will say though, my new pony (officially owned her that day actually) is pretty smart. Maybe she caught a little radiation and that's why she and I have such an awesome connection. Maybe it's cosmic What do you think? Is she glowing a little bit?
