White Abbriviations...?

Is there a list of possible AMC abbriviations somewhere???

I am often confused by abbriviations like AMC, DD, TWD, etc. I know that it is easier for everyone who knows to put in an abbriviation, but it does make life harder for me!

I had to work out MiL as well meaning Mother-in-Law.

What does DD stand for??

"The name rowan is believed to derive from the Norse runa - "a charm". It was often planted outside houses to ward off witches. On May Day a spray of rowan leaves was hung over doors to repel evil, and wells dressed with rowan to keep witches away. The rowan, or mountain ash, is found commonly in Scotland, sometimes clinging to a rock face."

I recently added a list of the Pern book abbreviations to the Book/Story list in the Pern forum.

Probably I should add some of the McCaffrey specific ones to the FAQ too.

But, I strongly encourage everyone to take the time to type out words, in order to make things clear to everyone -- at least for the first time you use a particular word/phrase. In postings like this online, it doesn't take too much more effort or time to actually spell a word/phrase out. When in a chat room, acronyms and abbreviations do become more handy, but there is no rush on the forum for you to get the thoughts from your fingers to the screen for others to read, so please take time to make your meaning clear.

Specific to Pern, DD is Dragonsdawn or possibly Dragondrums. As a general 'net acronym it is most likely "dear daughter" a common way to reference one's daughter.

Thank you very much, Cheryl

This was very helpful to me.

I immediately noticed DRoP and was a little as I associated it to "I dropped, I stay" - a completely different book

GWHD also puzzled me recently

If DD means dear daughter, DS would mean dear son and junior would be "like do you mean the Nintendo DS Mum?" Gotta love it!

Mr Jube (Dragon Harper - see I know something too ) is currently watching "The Bucket List". Now that's a sad movie but one of the best ones I've seen this year!

Hans, after the ego becomes inflated, it rapidly all goes downhill from here, my friend but that doesn't mean I can't inflate it just a little bit (before DH works out why my friends seem to know just a little bit more about A Mc then he does!)
