Oh, so it's a diagonal! Thanks for being patient of my flight formation ignorance, ground-pounder that I seem to be.

"Diagonal." Thanks for finding the word that escaped me yesterday. I knew there was a simpler explanation but it was late.

Something like in Mor. before plage, and Sh'gall fighting style?

Mind not quite at full power. :blus:

Wyerleader who has a WingSecond, a second in command.
WingLeader
Two Wingseconds
and rest are Wing Riders. Only time I've heard about some those is in RP base on Pern.
Also something about Search Riders as informal rank not too sure.

Designation as "search" rider depends on your dragon's ability to detect possible empaths.

. . . like Canth! In DF (I think) it's mentioned that he's one of the best at detecting candidates. Which makes F'nor kind of a "gary Stu" . . . well, at least he's a good-looking Stu!

Not in my book, he just goes with the flow.

Young Wyerling M'barak got to understand being a search dragon with his blue Arith in both Mor - Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern and NS, Ner - Nerilka's Story.

I don't think Canth was especially noted as a Search dragon in general, but rather noted that he was good at spotting gold candidates. (Setting aside this doesn't happen in DF, where when F'lar notes the dragons sense a power in Ruatha F'nor says "Even my brown feels it" and that after DQ it's never really brought up again.)

Maybe Canth is just good at picking goldriders who are good at being subservient to forceful Weyrwomen?

...

Is there any mention of any other goldriders, besides Brekke, that Canth Searched?

I don't know--he was mentioned in DQ as Searching for queen riders, meaning it wasn't just a fluke find with Brekke, but again, once it's not plot relevant we never hear of it again.

I know that he's decidedly not a goldrider, but--N'ton. In DF he's one of the first candidates Searched after F'lar wins the Weyrleadership, and it's said that "he can even make Canth understand him" and it also says that in People of Pern. So. . . .I'm not sure what that concludes, actually. Did Canth search N'ton?

Does it matter? He's still a cool guy, that part doesn't change.

Yes, also F'nor said that most of the searched are from craft hall and such, not doing something with holder bloodline. too dark to read for me. DF

DQ He had been Searching in Fort territory, and that they acted odd, until he id himself as Benden rider, for there was a gold egg on the sand, so he was looking for young men and women to impress, (Not as Fort Weyr was taking them on so Search and have them do something else if I recall right.

He was doing something for the Wyer while searching in Telgar territory at the Smithcrafthall, about the lining on the kettle cracking, for R'mart was as I can't recall the right word as the moment, sticky

We also see him Searching in general.

DQ online:

Quote:
here was a soft spring warmth to the afternoon air as F’nor and his big, brown Canth emerged from their weyr in Benden Weyr. F’nor yawned slightly and stretched until he heard his spine crack. He’d been on the western coast all the previous day, Searching for likely lads — and girls, since there was a golden egg hardening on the Benden Weyr Hatching Grounds — for the next Impression.

Chimaerrha thanks for the quote. Also there were green female search riders. In the Gift of Dragons: Ever the Twin.

Yep--in DF, Canth is "even my brown can sense it", in DQ, he Searches (for everyone), and then we never heard about it again.

Are there any other examples of browns Searching, or just escorting blues and greens?

Actually, we do see F'nor and Canth Searching at Ruatha in DF.

Interestingly enough, we get bronzes Searching in MHoP, though possibly as escorts. We do see Cortath speaking to Robinton, though, so perhaps bronzes may be able to sense good Impression candidates/just sensitive kids.

MHoP online:

Quote:
Cortath?" he called out, racing across the vast courtyard as fast as he could towards the three bronzes who had landed to one side. He ducked in among the greens and blues, completely unaware that it was actually the greens and blues who were sensitive to those who might make good Impressions

I can't think of any, unless someone else can come up with one.

I always figured that Canth could Search so well because he's-well-cool, not necessarily because it has anything to do with his color. Mnementh's super-intelligent (sometimes even more so than the average bronze), and Canth needs something to make him special, too.

Interestingly, there is a reference that Canth does Search often.

DQ on.:

Quote:
Felessan — as likely a lad to Impress a bronze dragon as F’nor had seen in all his Turns at Searching — got along far better with his placid foster mother than he would have with Lessa had she had the rearing of him

And, do not forget to check your contents for probable copywrite violation; because you can not get good ranking for your page on different search engines, if it contains any sort of plagiarism. You can check them with AAfter Search. You need to paste your document in the search box as follows *** and click the web search button. The search engine gives the result in the form of percentage of similarity between the original document and re-written document so that one comes to know about possible copyright violation, if any.
