I live in the country. This fountain appeared about a year ago less than a mile from my house. What a treat it is for someone who loves fountains.

The first fountain is one from the garden of royal palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn (the palace built by/for William and Mary). It is the main one in the back garden opposite the folly colonnade.

And the second one is a fountain of which several MoM members will have fond memories: the beautiful and special Gefion fountain in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's here we made one of our group photo's.

Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania has the most extensive fountains I have ever seen. I really loved their Italian Fountain Garden, but my pictures are poor. This is from the Main Fountain Garden

This isn't the most impressive fountain, but I love the little girl. Taken at the Chicago Botanical Garden

Apparently there is a fascination with fountains of boys and swans, as seen in these two fountains. The first is in Copenhagen, the second in Maryland.

Once again, I pull a photo from my trip to Quebec. This fountain is in front of Quebec's Parliament.

I'm still looking for my fountain pictures... Cheryl, I wonder if there is a mythological story about a boy and a swan which your fountains are representing. Lanen might know.

Greek mythology: In one myth, a boyhood friend of Phaethon, son of Apollo, was called Cygnus who when he discovered Phaethon had fallen into the river, dove after him and Zeus took pity and turned him into a swan. Cygnus is also a star formation, also known as the Northern Cross near Deneb www.pantheon.org/articles/a/apollo.html

Celtic mythology regards the Children of Lir to be able to change from swans into 2 boys and 1 girl or vice versa.

I just love fountains, and these are all great examples. I love Pam's "little girl" running along the coping and Hans' "bulls"

I just watched the newer movie version of Three Coins in a Fountain. It's called "Coins in a Fountain. It was enjoyable, although not "great cinema", just a fun story with a happy ending. It reminded me that I have photos of the Trevi Fountain in Rome, but that was before digital.

It's a very handsome piece of stonework and I thought I'd post it in its winter state for a change. Unfortunately, its summer state is not much better. I think its pipes are suffering from atheroma.

Well, I said I was going to post to this thread eventually. At last I have uncovered the pictures I was looking for.

Here are two views of the Triton Fountain at Powerscourt in Ireland, taken in 2001. The first picture looks away from the house through the Pegasus statues

and the second was taken from the other side of the lake looking back to Powerscourt house.
