Well do, my own Dr. is a allergy and asthma specialist. I shall look and see if I can't find some information to pass along to you.

Also medication is working, but I'm feeling 'too much of an older medication', well keep you posted

Good new for a change. Madison got her SOL test scores back. 400 is passing, 600 is a perfect score anything over 500 is considered really, really good. Her lowest score was a 531 in social studies, in science she got a 600.

They have a reading program where they get points for books read and pass a test on the book. Most kids do not get any where close to a 100, which Madison did get. The school thinks if she had started off the year at that school she would have had a 200.

At the school's award ceremony Madison got 5 trophies, and a bunch of certificates. Emmi grade got their awards the day before and Emmi got one certificate. Melissa did not know the K got theirs the day before and did not go. Emmi was felling bumbed because she did not get a trophy and that Melissa was not there, so Madison get Emmi one of her trophies.

We found out yesterday that Madison did get into the Go Center for gift students. We are all excited for her.

That is wonderful! When my kids were growing up my daughter was in some extra "gifted" lessons for about a year and then the school system stopped them because "singling out those with higher intelligence or talent could upset the 'poor' kids who don't get in those classes". Because everyone should get a trophy and lessons should be geared to the lowest level so that EVERYONE can pass.

Don't get me started on that, Cilla! We had some wonderful teachers when I was in school. One worked with advanced students, two worked special programs with kids who needed extra help, and one principal started an electronics club for GRADE school students who liked the hands-on approach to learning. THAT is what we need for learning... programs for all levels.

Kids need to learn at the pace best for them and the way they best learn. All schools want to do is force them into a mold, one way for all.

Melissa would love to get the other two into a private school for kids with learning disabilities. they are expensive, but do have scholarships. She did not like how the school handled Emmi at all. Among other things her teach kept saying she was doing fine, with no problems. Her last report card said she was behind in everything. She did get moved up to 1st grade, but the summer is going to be spent getting up to where she should be.

Quiet few days over the weekend have allowed me to drag the first of the C5s back into the land of the living. In reality hasn't really been that hard a slog really...Basically has consisted of the following.

-> New chain fitted - for the sake of less than £15 I didn't deem it worth trying to de-rust the original. Though I did have to salvage the special half link out of it - once I realised it was there after chasing my tail regarding chain tension issues for several hours!

-> All wheel bearings dismantled, cleaned, re-greased and adjusted.

-> New inner tubes fitted in all three tyres. The tyres themselves are quite badly perished (they are 30 years old!) and will probably be changed at some point in the near future, they're still serviceable just now though.

-> New battery fitted - no surprises that the original was as dead as a doornail, though it will be kept as a placeholder for shows as it's covered in the original Sinclair branding.

-> Relay in the motor controller replaced as it had turned into a block of rust. £3 odd off Amazon...

-> Burnt out motor commutator diode in the controller replaced (this is usually due to someone having pushed it backwards too quickly which pushes too much current through it - is a bit of a design flaw to be honest)

-> Dismantled the motor gearbox, checked for wear, cleaned out and re-packed with fresh lithium grease.

-> Adjusted the brakes and changed the front brake shoes.

-> Went out for a test run!

It still looks like a sack of spanners given that it looks to have gone through atmospheric re-entry, but seems to work nicely. The other one in the garage actually has the better body, so I may well swap that over at some point.

Official top speed is 15mph max on the level under motor power, though it feels like quite a bit more. Downhill the aerodynamics, the fact that there's a fair bit of weight to it and low rolling resistance tyres mean that it will pick up an alarming speed very rapidly.

Methinks a disc brake retrofit on the front may be in order as the factory stoppers aren't really up to slowing down 60 odd kilos of C5 doing 30mph+ downhill particularly quickly! We'll find out how quickly it actually does go tomorrow as I installed a speedometer today.

Handling and stability wise I have to admit to being extremely surprised. We already have a recumbent trike in the family (quite a decent one as I recall when we were looking for it), and while it doesn't exactly fall over if you look at it wrong, it never *feels* all that stable, and certainly protests if you try to make it change direction in a hurry. C5 on the other hand feels utterly and completely planted and you can really throw it around without it feeling as though it's in the slightest bit unsettled, grip is the limiting factor more than balance, even when turning sharp right (the battery is on the left hand side, so that's the way it should be the most tippy).

I really need to do something about the cosmetics, but not sure when that will happen as long as this weather holds out as I'm having far too much fun riding the thing to start pulling it apart to make it look pretty!

Do kind of wish I had a head cam of some sort so I could capture a video giving some sort of idea of the experience of riding a C5, it is frankly hilarious.

Anyhow...have a few photos from the maiden voyage a couple of days ago. These were taken in Campbell Park - which despite the appearances is essentially IN the city centre of Milton Keynes.

The hill in the background there was one which highlighted to me the fact that the brakes could do with some help!

Having views like that while still living in a city is one of the reasons I like Milton Keynes!

I'm exhausted mentally. My youngest son's report card arrive today, he failed four classes and not because he is struggling. He's not doing his homework and everything I've tried just makes it worse. He refuses to listen just argues about everything concerning school. I don't know if I have the energy to fight this battle anymore. Also, until he's willing to listen, anything I try will fail to get him to do his work so I think I'll let "natural, real world consequences" do the job. My youngest son just may end up failing out of high school before he finally cooperates with me to succeed. Thanks for listening.

Some times the best thing for them is to let them fail and learn from it. I had to do that with Kibby & math. I kept telling her to get help, she wouldn't do it so she had to take one section of math over.

How is eldest son doing?

Seth had a MAJOR seizure yesterday the worse one by far. He was mostly out of it all day. Woke up lethargic and not talking. Local hospital took one look at him and sent him to UVA. After an MRI and seeing several Dr. it was decided that it was a seizure and they sent him home. He is much better today. Mom thinks we should move up there for at least the summer.

Robin is up there being monitored for her headaches and seizures now. Not sure how long she will be up there.

On June 21 we are having a big yard sale to raise money for all the extra costs Melissa will have when Seth has his surgery on the 24th. Hotel, food, gas, ect... We have gotten a lot of donation for the yard sale I just hope it pays off.

Moonlady, don't let it ruin your life, go with the flow. I know it ain't easy, no it is hard as hell but I was the same. My mother must have been in despair many times. I came to my senses at the ripe age of 29 when I went back to my studies and look where I am now! Head of communication for a big foundation with 8,000 client, 3,000 personel and 1,750 volunteers
My son had the same tendencies and I did not make my parent's mistakes and let him do, let him chose. He is fine now working a job for 3 days and being a self emplyed journalist the other days plus having his own small business and being important to a UK manufacturer of agricultural machInery in our country. Most important, he is doing what he likes best. When 18/19 and confronted with going to college or not he said to me: Dad, you always say, do the things you like in life and things will come your way. I could not refute that because that is indeeed my motto, so I said: true, you are right, do what you think is best. He did and he is happy and that is the most important thing. Trust me, it really is.

It wil take another 15 to 20 years before you can talk with him about this as an equal on the same level. By that time he might have kids of his own, but hang on in there, as long as he thinks he is doing the right thing without breaking the law he will be all right in the end. Hugs.

Mawra, Keeping my fingers crossed for your family! Hope things will be going to be positive in all ways for you and your loved ones. You family is in my thoughts!

Thank you Hans for your word of encouragement. That is what I was feeling I should do but there is lots of pressure to intervene no matter what or you are a bad parent.

Thanks Mawra. My thoughts will be with your family during this time.

The oldest is going to counseling and saying he will do the "hard word" but only time will tell. He has been easier to deal with him but its always that way after an "explosion". I am hoping he is taking it serious the need to deal with his anger and hurt.

May everyone have a great weekend.

LOTS of fun today..not. Mom had to have her foot operated on this morning. Out patient, nothing major major, but a bit more involved than last time. So she rented a knee scooter for the recovery period...it's fine in the house...beyond the house, we are using my friend's collapsible wheelchair. Tonight and tomorrow night, she is staying downstairs with the Kidling and me, because there is NO WAY we could get her upstairs to her apartment. We went to the Booster Club banquet tonight, and just getting her in and out of my apartment was tricky! And in the middle of it all? I tripped trying to help her up the front steps, and went face-first into the privet hedge. twisted my knee a little. Then I was getting her something in here, and bounced the SAME knee into the corner of the coffee table. One of the lousier things about being short is I hit my knees against the coffee tables and other lower items.

Ginny, glad the foot healed.

AnnMarie, may your mom's foot heal quickly and take care of yourself. Maybe you need knee guards. Seriously, my thoughts will be for a full and speedy recovery for your mom.

I hope your mom is better soon, Ann Marie. We don't have very many things to bump into here, fortunately or I probably would do the same as you.

Good wishes for poor Seth, mawra. And Robin as well. I hope the sale brings in a good bit of money to help out.

Moonlady, I agree with what others have said. Our two kids were very different in school. Jenn (the older) had many more friends in high school and pretty much coasted. Fred was and still is driven. He graduated 4th in his class and got his bachelor's and after that a Masters. However, at 31 Jenn has decided to go back for a Master's. I wish you luck and I'll hope things improve for you.

There are finally local strawberries at the farmers markets. They are so delicious! I have also bought some large planters and set out some raspberry plants and strawberry plants of our own. It would be lovely to start getting our own fruit, hopefully next year.

Thanks all. Mom did well with the surgery, and her foot looked better yesterday than what I expected it to. I was thinking "raw meat", but it was only "Frankenstein". She can now put weight on the heel, so that makes stairs easier. Still going to be using the knee scooter in the house and the wheelchair beyond.

Robin is home, on new meds. Kibby & I went up to her and Tammy, who was staying with her. Next time Robin can walk home. I refuse. She started complaining and arguing the second she got into the van. Most about stupid stuff. I am tired of it.

Last weekend I brought her down to my place so Tammy would not have to pick her up to go to a Trek thing. Kibby and I had gotten a lot of yard sale donation so the van was packed. Robin started complaining as soon as she opened the door of the van, then yelled at me when I told her that we had not had a chance to unload the yard sale stuff and she would just have to put up with it. She was not that crowded. I don't have to put up with.

Sometimes I feel guilty for posting about good things that are going on around here, when I read about the troubles other people are having, especially when those problems are caused by selfish family members. I think I am very lucky and I try to be grateful and not take life for granted!

Maw, you put up with a lot. Often it is those who are the most spoiled and "entitled" who demand the most, and those who are quiet and do their best get trampled. I hope things get better for you.

Hearing good things happening for others makes me happy for them & gives me hope that the bad times will pass.

I have informed everyone that I refuse to transport Robin anywhere. She did call to apologize, but I refused to speak to her. I have heard it too many times & do not feel like hearing it again.

Kibby leaves tomorrow for 4H congress, she competes in public speaking on Tues. I think she's got a good chance to win state this year. I really hope she does. It is her last year of competing in 4H.

Kibby has called several times, she is having fun. She played Quidish (not sure of spelling. Game from Harry Potter.) She twisted her ankle, but it was feeling better by bed time. I just hope it does not bother her tomorrow for the competition.

Congratulations to her! I know she has worked hard and really wanted this. Is there a national competition and will she compete in that?

Congrats Kibby!

As Mawra said, hearing about he good news is encouraging and reminds me that there is much to be thankful for.

My cousin is in the desert with her mom. She is a little better but not a lot. However, there is a medical group near her that doesn't take insurance but they charge a reduced amount and look to treat the whole body. A friend of hers took her daughter there after the doctors through insurance gave up and they were able to figure out what was wrong and her daughter is healthy again. My cousin is going to look into going there when she returns home next week.
