If there is one, it'll probably be changed...
I think one was mentioned, but I could be wrong. Too bad the OKT (Old Kitchen Table bulletin board) is gone, cause it was in there somewhere... Tresa

perhaps they'll be more like hospitallers than templers though. helping people with medicine etc rather than fighting.
crusaders werent that bad though. I was helping Nick (my history student boyfriend) with an essay (though why he thought that I am much good. I dont write essays much and my spelling's awful) and I read that 1 group allowed a muslim to worship in a mosque that had been turned into a church! Its one of those bits of history that get over-generalised! |

Frankly, the Christian crusaders get a bad rap. The Muslims were not peaceful, wise, intellectuals, they were butchers, just as bad or worse than the Western crusaders. They're substanially cleaned up by modern PC, but they weren't innocent victims by any stretch. The people who really got screwed by the Crusades were of course, to no one's surprise, the Jews. There were a bunch of Germans in Worms who figured, Why go all teh way to the Holy Land to kill Muslims when we've got Jews right here (German anti-semitism wasn't a recent invention). And of course Muslim armies weren't Judaism's biggest fans, either (also not a recent thing.) No matter what goes on in that region, it's always the Jews who get the worst of it.

Fair point about the Muslims not being any better about the Christians in the time of the Crusades. Admittedly the Jews have received the worst of it from both Christians and Muslims during the last 2000 or so years, but recent history has proved that given the chance they can give as good as they got (and maybe I'd best stop there, given that we aren't supposed to discuss politics here).

I agree wih Granath there!
in war theres no good guys-ever. both sides are as bad as each other-there are some good gestures like i said earlier an d some crusaders were there to do more good than evil-hospitilars. i heard a really good paragraph when my boyfriend was revising. it was talking about how that area was really united until some do-gooding (in their minds) westerners went and chopped it all up in the crusades... i REALLY hope thats not what FC's about! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

When the fourth book came out, I heard at first that it was to be called "Freedom's Citadel". When people started talking about the fifth book, I heard it was to be called "Freedom's Citadel".
Perhap's it'll be called "Freedom's Citadel"!

I'm sure I've heard someone use it when talking about a church. I think it was someone from the Salvo's...

I've been racking my memory, and picking others as well, and no one remembers Anne seriously working on a fifth book. Perhaps idle speculation on having an idea, but not to the point of actually writing it. And certainly given the length of time without hearing anything at all, I don't there is any such book currently planned or being worked on.

I just wish Ms McCaffrey would hurry up and write a new book (Pern, Freedom, Doona, etc.....), as we all desperately need a really good fix of Ms McCaffrey's writing skills. By the way, I hope she has an excellent 80th birthday this year and I wish her all the best for it. Not a bad innings for writing over 60+ books so far. Go for it!

Jube, If you really need a good fix of McCaffrey books then why not just re-read some of your most favorites like I do. I can never read them over often enough. They become even better friends that way.
