Have you been exposed to someone that has it? I truly hope your test comes back negative!

I remember Bronze Dragonrider and if I recall correctly there was a bit of drama for awhile.
![]() We're finally on the warmup and I can quite literally watch the temp go up. In the time I've been typing it's gone from -7.2c to -5.6c. I actually hope it stays just below or at the freezing point or we may have to deal with water main breaks. Not to mention the already slippery streets will turn into sheets of pure ice and make walking difficult.

At times the KT was very good at drama!
![]() We are due for cold temperatures tomorrow and Wednesday. Nothing like you have but down around 10 F with 20 to 30 mph winds. Staying inside except to go to the mailbox.

That is wonderful. So happy for you. You know. You could "branch out" and use more periods at the end of sentences. Not every sentence requires the emphasis/excitement of an exclamation mark.

They'd scarper. Or you'd hear about it. What's been happening here is a 5.8 earthquake just before midnight. Noisy affair, rattled all my sash windows and the desk I was working at. Classified as "weak" - I don't think so. "Weak" eathquakes rattle my windows but not the desk and the bookcase beside it.

That is scarey! We rarely get earthquakes around here (New England, US) but the occasional one will be just loud and rumbly enough that it might be a company blasting rock and you don't know until the news mentions it.

I've just finished a small "zip up" needlepoint bag, around 8 inches by 5. I can't show it but I can describe it. The background is very light beige. There are 3 rainbow colored dragons facing toward the right in silhouette. Each is about 5 inches high. I decided to outline each in the dark purple to make them stand out better. I call it "Dragon Parade." Sewing is how I spend a lot of my time. I used to do only cross stitch but I've branched into needlepoint. I find if I have a photograph of almost anything I can transfer it to a blank piece of needlepoint fabric (or one of several sizes of zip up bags) using the light table Jeff bought me. Then it's a question of finding the right colors and doing the sewing.

I'm OK, but that one freaked me out for a bit. It was reported all over New Zealand, which is unusual. Fortunately this house stands up to earthquakes well, it's very solid. We're sitting on top of the Pacific ring of fire, and earthquakes are common here. Usually the first thing is to look up the Geonet website to find out where it was. https://www.geonet.org.nz/earthquake/2022p030948

I'm very happy that earthquakes are one natural disaster we don't have to worry about here. Wildfires, hailstorms and the occasional tornado are quite enough thank you very much.
![]() Another of the original buildings in town has come down. It was one of 2 hotels built by the railways back in about 1913 or so. The local paper dug into the archives and have been reprinting some of the ads. $2 per night and you could get a long term rate. The National was billed as the finest hotel between Calgary and Saskatoon with all the most modern amenities including a dining room and 2 full bathrooms per floor. It was only 3 stories but towered above the rest of main street. It even had a ladies bar. ![]() ![]()

Mausey, I'm with you on the "old" thing. I've been watching a lot of reruns of "Time Team" in Youtube. All they have to do is scrape 5 or 6 inches of dirt off and they're onto some ancient roman ruins, a little deeper and they find iron age stuff. Where I'm at if you look around long enough you might find an arrow head or some native american artifacts but nothing that ancient.

Mausey, I find it amazing that you don't include the extreme cold you get in your list of "disasters." You get a lot of snow and ice I think too. I guess it is what each of us gets used to.
We also don't have any really old buildings. Nothing like the UK, Europe and other areas. If a house was built in the 1800's it often gets a plaque by the door. ![]()

When I was younger, I'd shake my head at the people who would panic when the news people predicted snow. The people would buy lots of supplies. But then, often, hardly any fell!

I made a cross stitch picture of a dragon for my son for his birthday this month. It took about 8 months to sew. It is entirely blues, purples and greens although some of it is so dark you would think it was black. This is the third dragon I have made him and is by far the most fierce and menacing. I would say it is a "guardian". The picture is about 20 inches high by 14 inches wide. Jeff & I went to Michael's today and picked out a plain silver metal frame. He'll frame it, he does a good job.

Someone who works at Lowes, told my niece that they had a 1,200 dollar washing machine that had been discontinued on sale for 300 dollars. It is now in our kitchen. It is huge, twice as big as the old one. Haven't tried it out yet. We're going to be snowed, most likely, for a few days. I'm going try it out tomorrow. Not sure how I'm going to get clothes out. I can't reach the bottom.

That is wonderful, mawra! Maybe someone else can reach to the bottom of the machine, or you could get something to grab them out? I'm sure a solution will come. Happy laundry!

Do you have a "grabber"? Or try a hanger. Maybe a wire one straightened out to extend your reach. Did you ever go to summer camp in your youth? The wire hangers used to cook marshmallows over a campfire.

We've got a grabber, we can use.
I went to Walmart this morning. It was not snowing when I left. I was at Walmart for an hour. The roads were BAD when I came out. I have never seen roads get that bad that quick. In case anyone is wondering why I waited to go today, I got food stamps today.

Holidays are over, visiting family have all returned to their homes in California, Oregon, Arkansas, Tennessee, And various parts of here in Pennsylvania. I love having them visit. I also like it when things return to normal. Time to relax, A nice cup of Irish Coffee and a good book. AAAH ! or a nap, whichever comes first !

It rained here Friday night and Saturday morning then changed to a very wet snow. Temp hovered around the low 30s F. all day. So far today it's cleared off and the temp has been back up in the low 30s again. National weather service says high of about 34F today and partly cloudy to clear all week, warming up into the low 50s by Tuesday, then cooling back down again. Looks like the big storm that hit up east and north hardly touched us. I think that's because of of two different jet streams meeting over the Wichita Kansas area. One flows west to east while the other flows north to south, creating a swirl in the upper atmosphere, sort of like a big whirlpool. Here in southwestern Missouri, I think we're on the edge of the whirlpool, as well as still catching a lot of the west-east stream. So this storm front came down from the arctic and was moving mostly south by southwest and hit our jet stream whirlpool and has been fended off by it. The further east you go from my location, the worse the storm hits. The forecast for this storm said it could get some parts of Arkansas, but the gulf coast was going to be hit pretty bad (for them. compared to normal weather).
Maw, I hope you do okay in this storm, as the eastern seaboard states were supposed to get a big smackdown out of it.

I have yet to get my colostomy supplies that my nurse ordered last Wednesday. She said they'd be here on Friday. She's supposed to be back this Wed. I know she'll ask my weight. My doctor's visit is gonna be over the phone.

I can't remember how long ginnystar said she would be away but I feel like she should either be back or coming soon. I'm not sure where she was going so weather may be an issue.

I kind of thought she was going just before Christmas for maybe two weeks. That time is long past, though.

Just saw the International Space Station go over. Should be visible again tomorrow night.
![]() BD1, I'm confused. I thought you mentioned in another thread (something related to a virtual Solstice Gather) that you did not have a phone? Perhaps a landline rather than a cellphone is available.
