I "see" them multiple times every day. That poor BANNED whoever they are - michellern60. It must be a "bot" I can't believe a real person would continue to visit every day for months and months! Forlorn and foolish. After all this time you would think it would give up. I don't see a point, but then, maybe there IS no point?!

Finally some good news, the Roundhouse Society is now a not-for-profit charity. Most donations can now be issued a receipt for tax purposes. Our president took one of the wooden window frames to a restorer in the city and it will cost about $1000 and that's without glass. At least it's a start.

Wonderful news, Mausey! Good heavens, I hope that window frame is huge for that price!

We had some clean up work done around the edges of our yard. We've been here 14 years and weeds and small trees kept growing further out into the lawn. The fellow came with a fairly small machine that looked a bit like a backhoe except on the front it had a rectangular "box" on an arm. Under that box was a super sized spinning blade! He only had to raise it up and drop it down and the blade crunched up and mulched just about everything! It was amazing to watch. Now they can clean things up, plant grass seed and there's more work for the fellow who mows our lawn!

I see michellern60 is still making regular appearances. Just plain weird!

Glad you're feeling better BD1.
Hope your Dad is feeling better. Gunny.

My sister & Hubby decided I needed another kitten. So we now have a solid black 8 week old kitten. A friend rescued him from a hoarder.
First night home our 45 pound, year old puppy, took 1 look at him & ran to his Daddy,(Hubby) to hide from the maybe 2 pound kitten. It was very funny. His sister just started to slap her paws on him, but stopped and very gently set her paws next to him. (Lunna is never gentle when she paws you.) The 2 small dogs were excited, a new baby to take care of. The other cats weren't impressed.

As some others from AMCF and here have done, I found and befriended Simon on Facebook and asked him about AMCF being down. Well, that was June, and he said he hadn't been able to find anything short of a few days of uninstalling/installing the whole thing to get it back up, and he just didn't have that kind of time available.

Yesterday I messaged him again, asking if he had looked into it further. Here's a copy and paste of my message:

"I read through our last messages, and was wondering if you've thought any more about getting the AMCF site back up and running, or are you going to give up on it? I'm asking because it's been 4 months since I wrote the last message, and I still check almost daily to see if my link is working or not. If so, I'll be able to let some of the others know, the ones who are on MoM know, and they might be able to let others know."

Like I said in that message, I know a few of us here on MoM had made the transition from the last independent AMCF to Simon's version, and were wondering what was going to happen. I also think that some here are in touch with others from AMCF that haven't ever joined here, so they could pass the word along. Anyway, here's Simon's reply:

"Hi Allen. Sorry, I’ve not gotten back to you. I’ve tried a few times to see why it’s not working, but I’ve not been able to work it out. I would like to make it work, but I just don’t know if and when I’ll have the time or resources to invest into it. If anyone wanted to take it forward I’d be happy to pass the domain name on if they had somewhere to set up a forum and host the site."

So that's where things stand with the old Kitchen Table. From my own perspective, I would like to see AMCF go on. But on the other side of that coin, I'm computer semi-literate at best. I don't have the resources, knowledge, or abilities to do any of what would be needed to take over the setup and running of a website.

So if there's anyone who has a server and wants to do it, it's available. Pass the word.

And let me and the rest of us know what plans are. Like I said, I hate to see the old site finally go between after all these years. But I know that I have a hard time letting go of the past.

My dad is home 'happy dance' he is feeling much better, three stents were put in, he was their for a week , came home Sat. via his brother, he is a little weak but now he feels a lot better, I got hold over the weekend, the large print of our phones, my new care giver rread something that we nneed tosee about getting updated, on my phone, she has someone elase that use his voice to run stuff, for he can't move at all, So things are looking up, also she is willing to wait for me to bring back the how-to from our family cookbook. So I am very happy, and still a little frustrated, going to se if I can get more information about this Apple I Pad that I have on loan, its verry frustrating for I am only rrecalling a few of the commands, having a two folks come on one day and t trying to keep things going when Iwas under the weather.

PS I am dsad to hear about Colen Powl sp I recall reading his book in condentced large print years back,, I heard them tell the name for I had for got it. 'sad'

Allen, I am not surprised. I don't know if there is anyone with the time and ability to take on the KT. I have the time but I would not know where to begin. It's too bad.

BD. Glad you are feeling better.

Ginnystar, I'm glad your dad is doing much better.

We helped our son move to a lovely 13th floor apartment over the weekend with water views and the NYC skyline in the distance. Both our kids have done well, we are very lucky.

Thanks, as for helping I did have some experiences as acting as a Mondorader Allen , but that was when I could still see, not now, I am just now getting back online, and still learning how to run a computer with without sight sight, I need more training which is comming but its
going to take me longer, my hearing and memory isn't like it was, its
taking me twice as long to transfer stuff from short-term to long term, I do have time, but not right away, maybe in a few months when my re-traning is done, I can hel. Notes I am MY answers ,are being posted via your post so I shall get on to other stuff in a bit.

Thanks for the feedback, My staff sent out the Large print instruction booklet to my dad today, after I got his address , I told him that I asked my help for two copies, and the reason why, he was willing to help, no internet, dad is not good about computers, and can't get up here to get help from our store, which I hope we get better service then I didl;. I t Traided for some stuff from our family cookbook in return, so I can show someone how to make a few different baking goods.

Sound like a nice place, I am glad to read more and share more later.

Thank you Allen. While it's sad to see it go, I'm another one who just doesn't have the know-how to run something like that. I wish I could get on just long enough to get names and maybe get hold of the others who posted there and let them know what's happened.

That is great news about your dad GinnyStar.

That sounds lovely Priscilla.

Of our 3, 1 is doing very well, just finishing his paramedic training, he, his wife and 2 daughters are moving into a new house. Another is doing okay and 1 is a bit of a lost soul. He has some mental health issues that makes it difficult for him to hold a job longer than a couple years. As a result the depression kicks up a notch, so he feels down and it just sort of spirals. He's on meds which help but he needs them adjusted and is on a very long wait list for the Dr. he needs to see. At least he's living with us and while it's a bit crowded at times we know he's okay so that's a very good thing.

We went to a gaming con over the weekend. It was ok. First year for this con, it has potential to be good.

When we got home, my sister had gotten me a stripped kitten, kitten are better in pairs. Blue wasn't scared of this one. I named her Mercy, after the Patricia Briggs warewolf books, because she didn't back down from the huge dogs. She growled and hissed at them.
When we're not with them we put them in the dog's crate. Blue is not happy about that. Not that HE wants in the crate. It's his and he doesn't like to share. The other large one, Lunna, doesn't care.

I hope these new big dogs stay in your yard and don't scare the neighbors so you have to find new homes for them!

Our son went to Comic Con in New York City a couple weekends ago. He enjoyed it and bought himself a couple anime pictures and a Christmas present for his sister.

It would be nice if the old records of N.K.T. could be archived somewhere. Ask Hans? I know he's archiving all his Pern Museum stuff.

If the KT is no longer reachable is it even possible to access any records to archive? I have no idea. What would anyone do with such things anyway?

We have an invisible fence, it gives a light shock if they cross it. One, Blu, will not cross it. Lunna has a stronger collars, it pack a bigger charge. She was sleeping on the fence line, we thinks she likes the jolt. She's not sleeping on the fence line, but doesn't pay it any attention. So far no completes from the neighbors. A couple find her amusing. If we get complaint we'll try and get a stronger collar.

Mawra, I'm glad the invisible fence is working. It was a real shame that you had neighbors that caused so much trouble over the dogs you had to give away. Are those neighbors still there and I wonder what is "different" about these dogs? People can be downright weird!

There is a nice thrift store in town that is run for charity. I like going there about once a month. I try to take things to donate - clearing out things I don't use. Tomorrow I am taking a large bag of handbags (pocketbooks?) that had been in my closet and not been used in years. Belt pouches, shoulder bags, smaller ones, all sorts. Out the door. Once in a great while I come home having found a "treasure" there but it's mostly just fun to look.

The other 2 looked intimidating. When Lunna walks up to someone her tail is wagging so hard her whole rear-end is wagging. She also has the sweet innocent look of a basset hound.

I like looking at flea Markets, yard sales & thrift stores as well.

Ah, Bassett hounds. We had one when I was a kid. Sweet, dear thing but we were no good at training her so she peed and pooped in her room most of the time instead of outdoors. After she died we stuck with cats. Just as much interesting personality, not as "needy" and they either went outside or used a litter pan.

Over my life time I've probably had 30 "Overlords". None of them talked too much. We never had a Siamese, which have a reputation for being overly chatty. For nuisance factor - I give you our neighbors two tiny Shih Tsu. When they are outside (thankfully only a few minutes a couple times a day) they yap constantly at absolutely nothing!

I like dogs, as long as they are someone else's.

Yes, Siamese and Russian Blues tend to be the noisy ones. Siamese can also be the acrobatic "into everything" type.

One of my Siamese totally freaked another tenant when I was living in a rooming house. He was Chinese, and not used to having indoor cats at all, leave alone one that was constantly making so much noise. Or one that figured out that the sliding door to his room could be opened with a paw. He looked up and there was this ghostly looking thing with bright red eyes ...

Does anyone know what platform the NKT forum etc was running on?

If it's a relatively low traffic site like this if it's something based around software I've any prior experience with I *might* be able to offer it a home. I've already got a server running anyway hosting my website and a variety of local resources.

The big questions would be the degree of knowhow involved and the actual technological requirements - as I imagine there are quite a few back end services I'd need to get sorted out too.

Can't guarantee anything, but if someone can get me some details on what software is involved I can have a look into it.

It was a very low traffic site, maybe 5 to 8 regulars and maybe a couple posts a day. Does that sound about right Allen?

The restored window cost $1,100 and is 53 by 53 inches and has 9 panes of glass which were not included. I see lots of fundraisers in the future.

So you got back a "restored" window at $1,100 that has no glass in it?! What did they do, cover the wood with gold leaf! Does it have to be special glass to go along with the rest of the "old" building? In the meantime, will the hole where the window should be get boarded up to keep out the weather?

Pretty much correct, as I remember it. But I've slept since I was last on there, so I'm prone to memory lapses.

I also know of a few here , I have a new staff and haven't asked if she likes going to them, right now my hold up is my CC card, and/or money , need to get over to my folks thtat help me via the sstate that help me pay my bills, and find how much money I have left, and waiting for my computer help to get here, personal problems out of state is the hold up for his driver, but I am very understanding, some of the original look up is going to have to be done, we can't use the tandom ability remote control of my system like the other person, he is more a one on one teacher which I think it well transfer easier into my long term memory better, my trtransfer /recall rate isn't that great, like using Hans's sight to get here as a idea, which reminds me I need to copy that and bbookmark the Wayback one note. I am slowing down my mind has a few things running at the moment. I am not a 'brain' or a shellperson' LOL sourly I sometime wish I could be.

To those who sent me stuff from NKTstuff for the tree, she got a big bang out of what I've shone here, I am trying to re-organized stuff,

I also had a chuckle once I find my image file and my passcodes I have to re-tag most of them, with hehelp, They say a picture is wworth a thousand word, Wonder if they counted image discription in that or not. probley not,, but my Dad's paining on a blind whas found, she thought iit was a blanket or a hanging,, I I glad I landmarkked it with my dad's old chair and a pair of his bibs overhallls andshirt laying over it in the corner when I took it, for I could rrecall it, more later

If y'all want to see me when I was almost 23, go to YouTube and type in "Rare 1980s sci-fi convention documentary", skip to about 8 minutes in that link, behind the guy dressed as a sailor, you'll see me in the background!!!!

Lunna isn't a bassethound, she has the droppy sad eye look of one.
I've never had a problem with dogs peeing or pooping ING the house. My cat Oden, never met a litter box she liked. The last few years she hasn't gone outside much. She prefers to use anything laying on the floor. One will pee in the drain of the shower.
We have one cat, Methos, who yells, a LOT. The kittens thinks he's calling them, and over to him. He has always been a noisy cat.

That's kind of unusual for a cat not to use a litter box. I know that if they get "stressed" (new cat in the house, or maybe an illness) cat's may "go" someplace other than a litter pan. We've been lucky and I think only had one elderly cat who did not always make it to the litter box.

We had one old boy who was crazy for chicken. Even before it was out of the oven he'd be meowing very loudly and demanding his share!
