Default Favorite Dragon?

No not the color this time but a specific dragon. Who is your favorite dragon?

Menementh? Ruth? Canth? Ramoth? Priedenth? One of the original 18? Or one of the ones from the inbetween books?

I think I like Menementh becuase of his sense of humor. Canth because he is fairminded. Interesting that as a female I am leaning towards male dragons. :o

I like the usual suspects the best: Mnementh, Ruth, and Canth. Hmm, I'm not fond of most queens, but Orlith was a good one.

It's kind of hard to pick...I do like Orlith. And I suppose Mnementh as well. Of all the dragons, they get rather more personality across (discounting Ruth, who has a lot of screen time, but I don't particularly like him.)

Canth, but then he's the dragon we know most about I guess.

Debera's Monarth was a pretty decent character for a dragon as well.

Favorite would be hard, but I think the most heroic is Canth. Instead of going between when he was in agony he stayed to save his rider.

Ruth is my favourite - I loved, LOVED all his little comments to Jaxom. He had quite a sense of humour. My other two favourites are Mnementh and Golanth.

Although Mnementh was the largest bronze on Pern and very much the leader of all the dragons along with Ramoth, I always though that it was a great part of his character that he did have a sense of humour, and would make the odd little dig at F'lar for something he'd said or done.

Hearing the dragons' thoughts are probably my favourite part of the books- which must be why I liked Ruth so much, as we heard lots from him.

I always wished that we would hear more from the other Pern dragons as they speak to their riders in the books. For instance, what is Path's personality like? We know Mirrim's, so it would be fascinating to "hear" her dragon.

Canth for his heroism.
Morath for being her rider's dragon right from the start.
Ruth for his jokes and insights (I'll add a caveat, though, I don't like Jaxom), except that I find the way he "enjoys" Jaxom's partners a bit creepy.

Ruth is definitely one, maybe because we get to read more about his conversations with Jaxom, he's so self assured and confident, Mnementh because he seems like a leader and forceful presence and Siminath (sp?) because of his interaction with Robinton when he was younger.

I'm kind of torn between Orlith,Ruth, & Canth. I like all three equally, so I guess I'll just settle for a triple favorite Dragon.

It depends on what I'm reading and how I'm feeling

Canth has always been high on the list.

But I also have a soft spot for Monarth - remember that bit in Dragonsong when T'gellan tells him to *get your great, bloody, big head out of the light, will you?* Monarth "blinked, gave a little wistful rumble, but removed his great head". That wistful rumble just seemed so touching

I also have a sneaking admiration for Heth, the image of him trying to run through the forest to get at Aramina's attackers is simply hilarious yet at the same time touching.

Well, I have so many favorites that it is not even funny! I guess my top three favorites are as ranked: 1. Ruth 2. Ramoth 3. Mnementh. Ruth is my super favorite because he has a great personality. Ramoth is my second favorite because she is an awsome queen dragon, the bravest dragon to the very last Pern book. Mnemnth is my third favorite because he has such a sense of humor!

picking...picking... picking hairs out from between my fingers, because picking A favourite dragon from so many i love is almost impossible, and i have pulled hair trying to narrow down a list as long as Landing's first drop is from Ruth's Hatching! i like them all!!!

but i did make an effort:

Mnementh - strong leader and not afraid of speaking ..ermm.. his mind. (bad pun, sorry) and i too adore his remarks back to F'lar, lol.

Ruth - everything stated, but most assuredly his sterling confidence and bravery! Is there nothing he cant do? Besides, i always love the "runts" of any litter. they have more character.

Orlith - wise, brave, great sense of humour, loving, steady and just a perfect compliment to Leri, whom i adored!

Heth - he just plucked the strings of my heart from the first crack of his shell!

Canth - bravest of brave and determined, strong and imaginative.

there...now i need a wig please...

i thought morath going after debs dad was perfect. he was her daddy he was supposed to protect her from bad things, and instead he sells her to some guy to increase his holdings...i think that morath saving deb from an ugly fate with whoshisface was what we call a "plot device" ...but a very well used one, indeed!

That's my favorite dragon quote, too!!!!!!!! Faranth (with the exception of Orlith) is the only gold I actually liked . My copy od Dragonsdawn actually opens to that page every time I open 'randomly' to a page
Maybe its because she has such a rider (so does Orlith) and dragons reflect their riders' personalities...
Here's my favorite of each color:

White: Ruth!!!!! because I have no other choice No, actually I like him because I've always liked albinos and runts. He also says the 'kyootest' things

Gold: Faranth, reason mentioned above

Bronze: Heth because of his Why? Don't you like me?

Brown: Canth because of his determination

Blue: Talith, I guess? I can't think of any others at the mo...

Green: Morath!!!!!!because she tries to eat Debera's father's head the oment she impresses
