Default Comic-Con International - San Diego July 26-29

From the Del Rey / Del Rey Manga / Villard Newsletter

San Diego Comic Con 2007 Edition

Del Rey is delighted to be a part of Comic-Con International: San Diego being held from July 26th to July 29th, 2007 at the San Diego Convention Center. We'll be stationed at Booth #1135 throughout the show, bringing you the chance to meet your favorite authors, to win free manga for a year, and all sorts of other fun activities and giveaways.

The show will be open from 9:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. of Thursday, July 26th to Saturday, July 28th and from 9:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, with a special preview night on Wednesday, July 25. If you're in the area, be sure to visit; you're sure to have the time of your life!

Posted because it is the publisher Anne has for the US and because it's near Lady Maelin, who might want to go and peek. Comics are much more about drawing than stories and who knows what old ones are sold...

We did think about going to this and picking up a few of Martin's missing Star Trek comics...and having a lovely weekend down on the beach watching the Dolphins swim by...but... other travel plans seemed to have taken up all our extra traveling money for the summer...

Maybe next year...we do want to go to one of these sometime.

Maw, We go and visit San Diego every chance we get...at least twice a year...for the last 20 years or so. I hope that you get there again soon, and in the summer as that is a lovely time of year there, with lots and lots of things to do.

Comic Con is HUGE. Bigger than Dragon*Con. If anyone plans to go next year get your hotel early, because everything in the city is basically sold out weeks in advance. My friend and I thought of going last year about a month ahead and couldn't find a room. And of course now I don't live anywhere near it. *sigh*

Thanks for the tip Pam.

I was "arm-twisted" last week into saying I would start saving to go next year (I'd rather go to WorldCon and might manage to get both in though!).

I'll pass the tip on.

They had pictures on the news about this event, and there were so many people there that it looked like the inside of a sardine can...they were so tightly pack together. after seeing those shots of the actual con...I think we are going to pass on going there. We alsways have enjoyed the smaller type events, and shied away from the larger more populated ones.

Yes, one of the directv channels had it on as a show. Matter of fact, it is on again. I am putting it on to watch, well as background.

It is on right now. They will probably show it again.
It is channel 354 for me. It is the G4 channel.

Lisa, Thank you so much ...I also have it on now...G4 same channel for me too. There talking about Star Trek, and what the voters thought about it...they didn't like it the *NO's* won out.

HI Hans... I'll be right there Master Elrhan I really didn't think that Lisa and I would continue this conversation much past the first comments...but it seems that both of us are doing exactly the same thing this morning...at the exact same time...Watching Direct T.V.'s comic con...and doing out post on MoM.

P.S. Nice talking to you Lisa...thanks for the impromto gab session.

Lisa, Me too, the minute I heard that there was going to be another Indiana Jones movie...I went running to tell my husband. We will very definitely be there when it opens...I loved the first and the third one...but that monkey brains thing, along with the beating heart...well I only watched that movie once...and lost my cookies right after the heart scene...YUCK!!! Hopefully this new movie won't have those kinds of scenes in it...and I will love it. Harrison Ford is deffinitely still worth watching...OH YES !!!!

I saw the Comic Con thing on tv and didn't stop to check it out and now I'm sorry I didn't. If it's as big as Maelin says I doubt I'd go. DragonCon was almost too much for me and if this is bigger I doubt I'd enjoy it. So I'll watch for it on tv and view from the safety and comfort of my own home.
I'll give both Star Trek and Indiana Jones movies a try when they come out. And agree with Maelin about the second Indy movie not being my favorite. The first one was so unique and full of action and the third has Sean Connery! The second, just not my cup of tea, lets say.

Comic con is oh so most definitely larger than D*C. I think its something like 4 times the size of D*C, which makes it like 100,000 people. At least that's what I heard once.

I've known about the new Indiana Jones because they were shooting part of it in New Haven when I was in Connecticut. It was crazy. Lots of people wandering around in their indiana jones costumes

Yup, filming going on in New Haven, about 10 miles from where I live. It was in the newspapers a bit, but as I don't usually go into New Haven I didn't get caught up in the hype. I agree, the first and third movies were great. That second one?! What were they thinking! Yuck! Mmmmhmmmm. Sean Connery. Is he going to be in this fourth movie?

I love the second movie! Its my favorite. I can still say the lines along with them years and years later.

(Then again, I was basically a kid when it came out )
