Default Hiya everyone!

It's been a long time since I've managed to be active on my own forum here! Scandalous, I know, but I'm glad to see it's been chugging along just fine without me.

Summer was busy keeping three kids occupied. We took only a very short vacation this year to nearby Lancaster, PA for a few days at a resort hotel, which the kids really enjoyed (and I survived, which was enough considering I felt horribly sick most of the trip!).

Then there was another trip back to my home town for my mother's memorial. That went well, and though the circumstance sucked it was nice to see many family members that I otherwise hadn't seen in years. We had maybe 300 people for the service, which was amazing. Also that same weekend was my 20th high school reunion, and that was nice for reconnecting with old friends and seeing how their lives have turned out thus far.

School started a week later than expected for my twins, as hurricane Irene knocked out power to their school. The whole district started two days late, and then our school was one of a handful that was delayed a full week for lack of power. We also lost a large limb of a tree, but our delightful neighbors chopped it up and removed it from the road which it had been blocking before we were even up and moving the next morning.

Now the kids are settling in well at school and I'm keeping busy trying to establish a good routine with just the little one at home. She just hit 18 months and is quite the handful - much more of a sneak and get-into-trouble child than her elder siblings put together. The twins will turn 8 tomorrow, and we have the day off of school (for Rosh Hashana) so we're making a special day of it.

Nice to here about what's been happening in your life. Glad to here the twins like school and their new teacher. What kind of cake are you getting for them?

So nice that they get their birthdays off! That never happened for me. I did just once get in the Sound on my May 20th birthday, and never did THAT again! Brrrrrrr! I'm glad everyone chugged along just fine and it's good to hear all about the summer!

What a swell idea, Cheryl. And welcome back

And my son, as Cheryl knows, will turn 23 tomorrow. No cake but we will take him out for a fancy dinner He'll be working as he has done since finishing his studies May last year .

Marjon and I had our almost 5 week vacation touring Scandinavia. Driving p from the Netherlands to germany, ferrying from Kiel to Oslo, driving through Norway to Sweden and crossing that country to hop over to Finland well above the Arctic Circle. Mid JUne we hit the North Cape, the northernmost point of Europe. We took a Bird Safari by ship to island even further into the Arctic Sea and then starting our journey south, following the Norwegian coast. We did a whale safari from the Vesteralen Islands and hopped over to the Lofoten Islands before hitting te mainland again. From there along the fjords to Oslo and ferry back. We rove just over 7,500 km (4,660 miles) and for European stadards taht is a huge number.

I am very busy at work (after a promotion last year October; now head of the comunications dept. of a foundation in healthcare with 4,000 personnel and about 8,000 clients) and even busier privately with photography, history, exhibitions and several projects for the local community and the town I live in.

Weatherwise we had a fantastic spring, great vacation weather but a lousy summer and now, after fall has started we et summer days... Mother Earth is confused

Hey there Cheryl! I was wondering who was responsible for this forum. Sounds like you've been quite busy.

Was that you I met at Dragon*Con? I know I met someone from Maryland.

Hi Kindan, nice to meet you!

It wouldn't have been me at D*C, I haven't been since 2002. Back when it was a much smaller con than it is today!

When my six year old niece was two she was so good. She hardly ever got into anything.

Charyl it sounds like you little one is like my younger niece and nephew.

Her 18 month old brother and 3 year old sister, who I baby sit at least one of every weekend, are making up for Madison being so good. neither one are afraid of anything.
If I tell emme she can't go into a room she will open the door the door so Seth can go in.

It is strang how kids from the same family all behave differently.

Glad you are back.

Was that a young lady with long red hair and dressed as a dragonrider? She reminded me of Sorka and we met (think her name was Jen but I could be wrong) whilst queuing for Todd's autograph on the first day.

I mentioned MoM to her and she said she would look us up when she got back. I also mentioned about Cheryl being from Maryland.

I didn't pack my 'MoM goes to ....' Tshirts and I sometimes I wish I had some cards I could hand out (with permission of course )

I looked out for you kindan but we can't have been around the weyrfest room at the same time.

Yes, that's who I was thinking of!!! That's hilarious that you have MoM goes to... shirts. I like it.

Hmm, I bet we were around at some point at the some time, at least. I was down in Weyrfest as much as my wife permitted hehe. I tried to hit all the big ones at least and was in that Todd autograph line.

Those are courtesy of Cheryl/Lady Maelin et al. They relate to 2 conventions we went to as an official forum group event - Eurocon in Copenhagen, Denmark - September 2007 and Albany, NY, USA in October 2008. Anne was Guest of Honour at both (with Todd in 2008) but could only attend Eurocon.

As ConJunkie I just had to be there Wish I had photos easily available for uploading.
