The second picture could be better...like without the heads that popped up in front of me when I was taking it! But this was the kidling's class singing a song called "Identity" at their fifth grade graduation, and it ROCKED!

Candid shot of street musicians in Temple Bar district, Dublin, Ireland.

And again in Ireland, the Bru Boru, a wonderful Riverdance like show, given at Cashel in County Tipperary, Ireland.

Got so many to chose from so the first would be one that Junior photographed whilst he was in Noumea:

The second taken at our local market - the young musicians found themselves leading the crowds down from the parade, they had participated in (one with and one without their instruments):

From our most recent trip to Branson, Mo.

19 year old Catherine Haygood performing her part of "Eleanor Rigby" during the Haygoods' show. The only girl of the family, she started on the harp when she was about 9. She also plays violin along with several of her brothers. They're a talented family, and put on a great show.

Well, I don't know why you don't see a picture, Hans. I still see it.

But yes, I posted this shot when I first was bragging about my new Canon Rebel. It's just that it fit the theme, and it and the others I took at the same time are all I have on theme.

Country roads is one I have a few for, but they were all shot through windows and windshields at speed, or of deer on our driveway. They have blur and reflections all over them.

But one of these days........

I see it now, so something must have been wrong with my connection of, more likely, with the site that hosts it at the moment I looked...

Nothing wrong with reposting Draco, it's just that by the description only I thought I "recognised" it

This is from my cousin's first Christmas, and one of a series of shots. She started playing the piano, then she stopped and insisted that the page be turned. She couldn't turn the page by herself, so someone had to help her. Then, she started playing again, only to stop and look up at the music, and finally start playing again.

She's watched my uncle (her father), our aunt, and me play the piano, and she's just a smart little kid. She's 2 now, but in this photo she's about a month shy of turning one.

This second one is the group Les Charbonniers de l'Enfer. They were at the American Folk Festival last year, and they're an acapella group from Quebec. One of the volunteer jobs is being an artist buddy, and you hang around with an artist for the weekend to make sure that they get where they need to go. I was lucky to be an artist buddy for this group, and I got to practice my French. This year's festival is only a few weeks away (last weekend in August), and posting this picture is making me excited for it. I'm not an artist buddy this year, but I am doing backstage work. Both of my parents are on the volunteer committee which gets me more access to things than normal people.

I think my 2 favourite photos so far, are Blondmom's photo of the professor chasing after the bagpipers and r2005's photo of her baby cousin playing the piano. They are great photo opportunities of the classic "you have to be there" moments.

r2005 that little girl is so precious.
Jube's picture with the girl with the tuba really made me smile. I just noticed there's a woman wearing a bucket hat on the right of the photo. It reminded me of Pam a little, because of the hat.
Draco your photo in Branson really captured a magical feeling.

Blondemom, at that particular market, you see all kinds of people, costumes (normal and varied) and stalls. The girl really looked like she was enjoying herself and was part of one of many brass bands that have played on Australia Day market in the 14 years that I've been there - that was taken at this year's market.

I love that little girl. We just had a birthday party for my aunt this past weekend, and boy did we have a fun time with her. She's at that age where she wants to mimic what everyone else is doing, plus she's a two year old surrounded by cousins and an older sister who are 23, 19, 18, and 16. At the birthday party, my mother and sisters start doing the hokey-pokey, and it takes her a couple of minutes to grasp it, but once she did, boy was the whole thing so funny. Unfortunately, there isn't any photographic evidence of this, but then some of the humor would be lost with a photograph.

I really like Bob's photo of the dancer.

I'm a little late, but here are my contributions. The first picture was taken at the 1986 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Edinburgh.

This one was taken the following year, at the 1987 Edinburgh Festival Fringe:

P.S. I love Bob12's picture of the dancer - fantastic! And r2005's picture of the little girl and piano is lovely too. Jube, I really like your first picture. You captured a lovely group and a perfect moment. (If you have some photo editing software I'd be tempted to put a gradient filter increasing the exposure from left to right. That would reduce the glare on the left and brighten the singer with the guitar on the right. What can I say - I'm a Photoshop nut case. )

Thanks actually that was taken by junior when he went to Noumea last year. He brought home a stack load of photos and some of them are quite By all means, if you wish to photoshop it, you have his permission to do so. My editorial viewpoints are not-withstanding

Cool, thanks to a photoshop nutter (aka StevenB - you can tell I don't have photoshop and obviously no inkling to fix it myself but you get that when one's working the graveyard shift at the moment - thanks again.) Junior wants to go back at some stage. I wouldn't mind either after seeing some of his photos.
