Default Hungarian Pern Books

The heart has gone out of my collecting somewhat after the death of Anne, bit friends and colleagues still remember me collecting everything Pern or Anne McCaffrey and buy me stuff. Like the colleague who regularly visits Hungary. Finally they have published Pern books there and with surprisingly nice covers!

This is Dragonflight, ISBN 963-7041-69-9, published by Delta Vision Kft. of Budapest.

And this is a very thick omnibus (over 700 pages) that holds both Moreta, Dragonlady of Pern AND Nerilka's Story, same publisher, ISBN 9789639679771

I really need to get these - don't want my Hungarian to get rusty, and what better way to keep up than with Anne's assistance? Thanks, Hans

You do indeed Anneli, it would be interesting to know what you think of the translation. Have you seen them before?

Lovely! I do like the top one for Dragonflight -- nice cover illustration that would make me curious about the story.

No, never seen them before, Lily. When I lived in Hungary there were no official Hungarian translations. I'm now hoping to get these via a friend

My friend was in Budapest last week and had no luck, not even at the biggest bookstore there. They said we'd better order them online but I have been hesitant to do so since I don't speak a word of Hungarian! The publisher does offer them online.

I especially love the face in the first cover drawing...it's very beautiful and not unlike Anne's discription of Lessa. The second one is also lovely...and does have a feel for Moreta as well...I agree they would get me to have a peek inside and for Anne's stories, that's all you need...just one peek.
