Default McCaffrey's cats

Okay, those of you who know her. How many of the plenitude of cats in her books are based on the felines in her life? Notice I don't say "cats she's owned".

What with the coonies, the barquies, etc, etc surely SOME of them are based on traits observed in her feline lodgers. I know she claims that her characters are ficticious, except for Johnny Green, Todd Johnson, et al (ever met him?) but the liability clauses don't cover other species.

There have also been multiple incarnations of very intelligent German shepherds named Wizard.

Anne has had several Maine Coon cats in residence over the years. So I'm sure that some of the characteristics of the fur faced children seeped into the books.
And as Brenda said, same with the canine contingent.

The story that springs to mind immediately is The Orange Cat (published in the magazine Albedo1). I've met that cat personally

From what I have understood, she also based the Firelizards on her cats...and those would be some of her cats from long ago..her own or ones she came in contact with maybe.

No wonder they had trouble getting them to carry messages then.

Edi, I have seen several cats in my aquaintence act very much like firelizards especially with there wanting to laying in any available sun...warming up. If you have been around cats for any length of time you can really see where Anne came up with some of their personalities.

Nope it was a cat- a slightly stupid but still lovable creature that did its best to pass on its collection of fleas- flea collars don't work!

What about all the cats in PTB? Domestic, track and wild cats.
I guess they make up for other series that do not have any cats.
