Local public library sale started today. Today was the pre event where you pay double.
I got in line ran inside the room with a mad bunch of book buyers and started grabbing stuff as fast as possible. Some people brought huge boxes to carry all the loot they found. I came away with 5 interesting books. Three of them Mccaffrey related. I might post pictures tonite but I'm sure you all know this stuff. 1. I found a pegasus in space for 2$ in HC 1st printing good condition 2. Legends trade paperback with a short Anne story. 4$ 3. paperback first printing of The White Dragon. First state with the error on page 143 "Will she let them Impress, sir?" Jaxom asked the head from side to side. $1. #1 was not too special of a find as you can get that at any used book store for cheap (but not 2$ cheap). #2 I'm happy to find because it has several stories I want to read! #3 I'm really happy about because I figure this one isn't too easy to find. It's not in the greatest of shape but it'll do. The next libary sale I attend I will be sure to get there an hour early so I can get a good place in line. hehe. I also found a copy of The Fellowship Of The Ring perfect shape in HC. 2$. And I bought a Market Forces ARC (richard morgan - del ray sci-fi) for 2$. |

I hate that: when I have to hunt up the poetry section (need you ask why?) first and I can't find it, I get so frustrated.

Nice finds, Matt
![]() I enjoyed some of the stories in Legends. Not all of them but some are definitely good.

Ahhh, Legends: The first anthology was a good one for me: new Disc World story, a new Dark Tower story, and a new Pern story.
Shame it took ages to get a copy over here ![]() |

That's something that sucks about Australia and NZ, while you might occasionally find something - there's is very rarely ever a special Anne book anywhere, not in second hand bookshops, library sales, nor garage sales - and believe me, I've looked! If anything, I find a plain old run of the mill Anne, nothing ever special... *le sigh*

That's silly indeed as HarperPrism obviously was alerted and even made a special overseas edition (1999) mmp
![]() Note to Jay: on the title inside board (it is a thicj carton page) they made use of a font that looks very much like the Pern/Morpheus one. Will take a pic later (no time now).

I dunno Jax, I recently bought this book on eBay, which was mailed from Aus.
![]() It's a hardcover of Mark of Merlin from Millington Books in the UK. (Course now Jax will be mad at me for exporting one of the few rare Anne books from down under.)

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Like I said, it's rare to find anything on the sly - Americans and UKers often go on about how they found this or that bargain, at a garage sale or used bookstore and they got it so cheap they were so glad that the person didn't know the real worth of the book... *wistful sigh* One day! I may even get my chance in the UK, but there are plenty of us over there I'm sure someone else will get there first ![]() |
