Default Moving!!

We got the house! Starting this weekend, we will be moving from the cursed flat to a centuries-old stone house in a lovely little village. (Okay, so the entire village isn't old or quaint, but our end of town is!) This means Dancer will be attending a new, better school starting with the fall term, and Mommy will be arriving in time to help me settle in the new place, and and and..... LOL! Can you tell I am excited? ;D

I did get VERY ticked off at our current rental agents when I called them this morning to tell them we were vacating. They want 4 weeks notice is writing, and we are responsible for August's rent HERE. THIS, after we were told to leave in MAY?? EXCUSE ME?
:o >
Means I need to find a new job, of course. I can do that.

AnneMarie: if utterly necessary. The usual fault with inglenooks is that people have misguidedly closed the flue down in size to stop draughts. A 6ft x 6ft inglenook needs a flue at least 2 ft x 2 ft or it won't draw. They didn't build the flues that size in order to get a chimmney boy up them: they could sweep them that way because that was the size they had to be.

I'm a bit too big to get up one these days but I'm always willing to see what needs doing.

Earth closets and lime mortar a speciality!

I wonder if Nick's parents think so. They are USUALLY more economical at least.

When's this party/house warming gather then? Your new place? or somewhere "neutral"?

Try the NKT - we've been having UK Gathers since 2001/2002.

Blackpool 2002
Leicester 2003
York 2003
London 2004
Scarborough > Sept 8-10 2006

Those are just the overnighters. We have had lots of minigathers. Even microgathers when just two or three people meet either on purpose or by accident.

The first time I ever met a KT person in RL was at a Family History Fair in York when Ian came along to meet me - I had a copy of Dragons Dawn on the table so he knew which one it was!!!! Then this year on a bus in York I met his MiL WGrace (LL's mum) - that was so unexpected and weird.

There's nothing wrong with having member meetings or gathers, despite the fact we have a lot of people who are members and/or regular visitors to both boards there are differences between them.

I run a UK gather Yahoo group, so anyone who wants to join can PM me & I'll send you an invite (it's a members-only group). This year's gather is fully booked I'm afraid, but we'll be starting to discuss next year's location & date once this year's is over, and of course it can also be used to arrange mini-gathers.

The group is open to people from any & all Anne-related sites, but site politics & inter-site rivalries have no place there!

I suppose what Ian means with fully booked is that there is no hotel capacity anymore. AMCF gathers are always a weekend activity with the possibility of staying in a hotel but having to attend both days not the hotel room have never been compulsory.

Anyway, anybody interested in the AMCF gather best visits the dedicated Forum / Thread they have for gather(s).
