Default Keukenhof Gardens Photos (Hans)

Right, not to be outdone by Steven's beautiful photo's I need to post my own Haven't got them all processed yet though, so bear with me.

I'll skip crowd at the entrance since Steven covered that. There were a lot of people but as soon as your are in the garden, away from the entrance, it seems a lot less crowded. It's hard to make a non close up photograph without people on it though

Here's a photo of the muscari "river" without Steven

The light fantastic! The light (it was sunny) played with the colours of these beautiful red tulips.

Beautiful bokeh in this close up of this nice red 'n yellow parakeet tulip (which I coudn't help but frame).

A river of hyacinths curving away from the viewer...

Shiny pale yellow tulips seen from the frog perspective.

Detail of a beautiful carved wooden "statue" of a harp player; a Harper! It is a custom to intersperse the many millions of flowers with some art here and there and each years other artists are invited to exhibit their work.

Why does this man (oh, you know who he is?) give that innocent daffodil such an angry look? Photographing flowers is great but watching people is too

I photographed the daffodil too and it smiled at me. Alright, it may not have been the same daffodil...

Another I just HAD to frame! We were very lucky with the light, which was much better than last year's.

Instead of frog perspective you can also shoot them from directly above, especially if they are short stemmed like these delicate tulips.

At times Keukenhof photo's are all about contrast in colours, how about these hyacinths and narcissus?

One of my all time favourites: the erotic anthurium (there were quite a ot of them in the orchid pavillion), I'll show only a few.

Like Steven said I went crazy in the orchid exhibition Here are a few shots:

this one looks positively embroidered!

Some shots for the Keukenhof brochure with enough "Dutchness" in them

Photo with room for text

They are so delicate, seen from really close...

There's a limit on the number of photo's, so on to the next post in this thread

Frog perspective works with tulips...

...but also with fritillaria. I titled this one 'Alien forest'

And even works with sun flare, which lends a special atmosphere to the shot.

But mainly Keukenhof is about beautiful flowers in stunning colours and combinations!

A wedge of tulips

Steven posted an beautiful, artistic view of the surrounding bulb field (where part of the flowers come from). Here's one for you to see the perspective of these huge tracts of flowers (and smell) in the immedioately surrounding area of the garden.

I'm not even at the half stage yet with processing my photo's but I'll end here. You can come and look at more on my Flickr pages at http://www.flickr.com/photos/hansvanderboom/

Just gorgeous, Hans! My favorite so far is the second one, the red tulips beautifully lit by the sun.

What a glorious place - you've both done it proud and probably still only a fraction of what there is to see

Is this a particularly good time of the year to visit or is it pretty marvellous all year round?

I love the one you called *frog perspective* and *Sun Flares* the sun flares look like palm trees with huge red fruit hanging from them.

Like usual your photos are extremely lovely...having such a good friend like Steven along on this years trip would only make it even more fun for you and Marjon.

Glorious photos ~ I didn't realise it was so big until you showed the tracts of flowers. I honestly thought it was a "normal-sized" garden of a few acres, certainly not on a grand scheme like this is. My favourite is the Anthurium

Psst..I have one question for you, it is in regards to bulbs but I'm waiting until it flowers so I can photograph it. I'm after the name of this particular bulb but finding it frustrating that I can't remember the name for it. I'll post in a suitable thread when it happens.

A fantastic collection Hans. Your picture of the harp player turned out better than mine - yours shows the wood grain much better. I like the one of me with the daffodills. I may even have posted the picture I took.

Lily, we've only posted a fraction of the photos we took between us. Like Hans I haven't processed them all yet - I got a little impatient and extracted a sample.

OMG - beautiful. I love the pic of the wooden Harper, and also the one of the field of flowers. Orchids are my favourite flower, and its weird, cause I was thinking they kind of look like aliens, and then I saw you called one of your photos "Alien Forest". Bizarro.

Hans, as I've looked at your pictures here and on flickr, I realize that the Netherlands is a place I need to visit. Of course there is probably no better place to see tulips.

Well, I'll not be putting any extra loda on the board either and emu;ate Steven, saying that I have now done my set and there's a total of 182 photo's in the dedicated album for Keukenhof 2010, which is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hansvan...7623793269873/

I must, however, post these:

Put the camera on self exposure to take a fews pics of ourselves, Later noticed that it realy looks like this fellow on the right is taking a leak (watering the flowers we could say)

And here's another one of Steven taking a picture:

My text with this: You won't believe me but you see this a lot at the Keukenhof: people taking pictures of flowers. Well, they do sort of leap out to you, don't they?

Funny moment: there was this Dutch speaking Surinam lady standing next to me, saying to her mother: "Look mum, that is me!". To which I replied: "Lady, you are beautiful." And she laughed and said: "Thank you for saying so." And indeed she did look like she could have been the one posing for this though it had to be guessork for me, of course

A fabulous collection Hans. I must try your technique of photographing those statuettes from the side instead of face on - your pictures turned out more dramatic.
