Red face Am I just being stupid or...

Am I really just being stupid?
I want to upload some Dragon artwork but can't find the Pictures and Albums link on my UCP (painful but I've obtained the right medication)

Forgive me - I'm an old newbie - I don't subscribe to the "Folks over 30 shouldn't try to use computers" school of thought but sometimes I do wonder about it applying to me!

Mumcat2: as another oldie over 30, I don't think you can upload direct to MoM. Most of us upload to Photobucket or Flicker. Once our pickies are on there we can copy the relevant image code and paste THAT into the forum.

Lily (and mumcat2): if I want to post a new picture then I HAVE to post it into my Photobucket account/albums first. Once it's uploaded into there, I can copy the IMG code from there [IMG.]http://sample code/my albums/1234..jpg[/IMG.] (that's a duff one just to show you what one is like) and put it into a post by clicking on the 'postcard' icon just above the reply/quick reply area and pasting the IMG code into the dialogue box that then appears.

If I'm updating the 'Just the Pretty Pickies' thread the process is slightly different as the server already has the IMG code. I just right click on the appropriate pickie and choose the 'properties' choice. That then gives me the picture's code to paste into the JtPP thread.

But I don't HAVE a photobucket account. Is there another way for me to post my pictures?

No, Vyon, you have to have the picture(s) online somewhere, doesn't matter where but they need to be online. You can paste the link to where the foto is (the line that appears in your browser's address window an that begins with http://) in the picture window that pops up on MoM when you hit the little landscape-photo button.

You can paste any picture from anywhere but they need to be somewhere on the world wide web.

Mumcat, I think this also answers your question?

I regard Photobucket as a FREE off-computor back-up system. All my photos get uploaded to there (in about 20 different 'albums').

I've also got all my father's and mother's old photos up there too which means that my siblings and families can also see them (but not get at them and muck them up)

To further add to my confusion, my husband (a MCP)also managed to work out for me that the URL has to be the file, not its location, if you want the picture, as opposed to the address of the image, to appear in your post...although it's easy enough for folks to click on the URL you post to get there!

I'm over 30 and still managed to work it out but that's due to having kids in computer-savvy world and having good friends to help out Happy new year!
