Just won a set of these on ebay! I've been looking to read the original version of Crystal Singer for over 10 years now and I finally get a chance! Is it much different than the published novel?

Congratulations on the win!
Differences? Depends what you consider much. If I remember correctly Killa dies at the end in the original story. Be aware that they were published in the wrong order, two of the story parts are switched!
The comic adaptation is, of course, even shorter and weirder. You will like reading the original shorts, I'm sure.

The ending being different is definitely a much! Very cool. I'll have to find that comic adaptation at some point too.

Congrats Kindan! I have always wanted to see read that, but I'm far to concerned about my Pern collection to even think about looking at other stuff just yet. do we get to some pics?

I'll admit, I'm not really a huge collector at this point. Read everything Pern, dabbled in the other stuff. Crystal Singer is what got me hooked on Anne and is one of the few book series I can say I've read more than once. I'm usually a one-and-done reader because I think there's just so many stories out there, I find it hard to go back to one I've already taken in. Totally anecdotal and non-scientific, but I think that speaks to the strength of the story.

Will send some pics over when I get them. I do have a shelf of stuff I collect, despite my usual proclivities.

It took me 4 go's to get the whole set and you got it in one hit, I'm jealous. Mind you, I still haven't read them yet as I had read the reprinted trilogy in last year's McCaffrey Quest.

Read the whole thing this weekend. Wowzers, talk about different. The only thing that was pretty much the same was the beginning (though I haven't read Killashandra or Crystal Line in years, so I may be wrong). I kind of like the recurring short story format for Crystal Singer too, it works really well.

Thanks for the heads up about the "out of order." I read 3 before 2 because of that and it was more fulfilling I'm sure.

Congrats! Be sure to read the other stories - it's been a while but I remember some of them were pretty good.
