Wink One Dollar Roadside Rodeo

Today I went out with my daughter and grandson. We stopped at the Taco Bell drive-thru and my daughter placed her order. She got her food quickly enough but when the worker tried to hand her the change, a dollar took off in the wind. It flew over to the parking lot of the business next door, executing an amazing replay of the lost ticket in Polar Express movie. I went after it and so did one of the Taco Bell employees. The wind gusts were amazing and the thing seemed to take on a life all its own, twisting and spinning, up and down. Another Taco Bell worker joined the chase. (I think he's the shift manager, he's always very friendly and helpful.)

The three of us must have made quite a show for the streaming traffic on the highway. We were darting here and there, jumping up, bending down, chasing the madly spinning dollar bill. To our credit, we all three gave up the pursuit when the thing swerved out over the highway, just as the nearby traffic light turned green. No less than 5 big-rig semis charged along the highway. The dollar flew over one and under another, doing a wild spinning dance before being thrust out and over the narrow grass verge that separated the highway from the parking lot. The young man from Taco Bell dived head first at the thing, did a belly flop on the grass and then jumped back to his feet, grinning ear to ear and presented the dollar bill to me.

I don't even know that young man's name but I can't help thinking that, if he is willing to work that hard for his customers, he's bound to go far.

Actually, it wasn't my dollar, it was my daughter's. I've been thinking about finding a Taco Bell website and sending them an e-mail but, knowing how some big corporations can be, I wouldn't want to get the guy in trouble for "leaving his post." Maybe I could just make it a generic "I got wonderful service" but that seems sort of bland.......

Just tell them that "this employee (insert name here) produced outstanding service at your local Taco Bills (insert where store is) and that you would like to see him recognised for it". You probably won't need to say what he did exactly but that you felt he did an exceptional job in customer service.

Great story. I agree that this would be good idea for a commercial

To erm... with the company, I would gladly have given the dollar-rescue-guy a tenner for the show and service!

Wow, that must have been a site to witness. I wouldn't be surprised if someone did think they're shooting a commercial.
That guy sure is dedicated to his work.
