Default Looking for a Del Rey Internet Newsletter

Does anybody have a copy for me of the digital "Del Rey Internet Newsletter"" #49 of Feruary 1997 with the article "Building a World: The Invention of Pern"?

Have you tried asking on Del Rey's "Jive" forum?

Hans, I just went and found a place to contact them about a back issue being downloadable online. I'll post here with their reply. I'm sure there are others out there who are wanting to find it now that you've posted about it. Me included!!!

I don't think I have ever heard of this "Del Rey Internet Newsletter", so it would be lovely to find a way to get a copy of it...if only to pass around a copy of it like we did the Pern Portfollio.

The DRIN (as they call it) is an email/online newsletter. There is nothing physical to pass around, unless you print it out. You can sign up to receive the current DRIN every month via email, or just visit the Del Rey site to read it. It typically contains one article or interview about an author, one rambling sort of column written by someone at Del Rey about goings on there, and then has details on upcoming publications.

They used to keep all the old DRINs available online, but a year or two ago they redesigned their site and seemed to ditch the archive.

Hmmmm, I've got a printed DRIN somewhere that I'll have to look up tonite. It came to me from Del Rey in the physical mail. Not sure if it's a promo copy of it or what. I knew they sent the DRIN by email but always figured they did regular mail too.

I know That;s why I asked if somebody had it for me because I downlad/save them but I can't seem th find the issue with the Pern article in it.
The subscription is free and I signed up in 1998 but know I saved the old ones from the erstwhile Del Rey site. At that time they even had some dedicated Pern / Anne McCaffrey pages... all gone alas

I don't know if they do anymore, but they used to have drawings for free books. I got one once, but I can't remember what book it was.

Becky, it did used to be an actual newsletter, but at some point they switched to online only.

Hans -- I know you know, it's just that clearly not all our members know!

Thank you...Cheryl, I didn't want to sound to ignorant...but I have been here long enjough to know...ASK... and someone with more knowledge will tell you just what you want to know.
As it is now I do remember seeing *DRIN* written out before...but didn't put two and two together...I do hope someone pops up with a copy, then we could trade it around again so that everyone has a chance to read it or copy it hopefully.

Hans...I do hope someone show up with a copy for you

Uh, did you ever hear back from DelRey, Becky?

Must admit I did not when I enquired after the lost Pern pages a few years ago...

Nope, I never heard a peep! Infact, I'd totally forgotten I'd emailed them. Sorry Hans. I really really hate it when you email someone and never get a reply back. I'm trying to buy a HC copy of The Survivors and I've found a couple on Amazon but they don't give a description, so I've emailed the sellers for more info a couple of times and they've never replied back. So they're loosing out on a possible sale. I won't buy a book unless I know the condition first and Good just doesn't give me enough info.

Becky...It is really too bad that you never got an answer to your questions...I know how much you love to add more items and books to your already fantastic collection.

Thanks Maelin. That's really the last book in hard cover that I need for my collection. (well, til I decide to collect something else, like UK 1sts or something!) I've got a HC 1st of every US publication of Anne's books and the UK one if no US one was done (or if I can't afford the US one and find a deal on a UK one). So the majority of my books are US.
