Default Halfblood Series - Mercedes Lackey

Anyone know any new news on this series? I know the death of Andre Norton had to have been hard for her (as a friend). The 3rd book mentions the 4th (Elvenbred) is forthecoming, but that has been a while back now. Her bibliography on wikipedia mentions a publish date of Dec. 2007 for Elvenbred, but I have no idea the source for that date. I have seen that date at least twice, but still - I don't know the origin of that information ...and, obviously, the book's not out yet. Her website doesn't look to have been updated for at least 3 years.

Anyone know or heard anything?

Well, it's not mentioned at all on the publisher's website (assuming it's with Tor and I can't imagine it isn't.)

And since it's not mentioned on amazon at all (and they often have books listed there even before the publisher physically gets them) I suspect it's not expected any time soon.

I've seen on various websites, including Lackey's (I think), that she is planning on writing it. I haven't seen any dates that aren't already past, though.

I hope she writes it!

I don't have anything new to add particularly relevant, but I was reading the wikipedia article about ML and was utterly horrified to read that she nad her husband had received death threats from "fans" because she said she was going to stop writing a particular series. That is awful and despicable and horrific. Whilst I am sure that none of us here are exactly thrilled that Anne has stopped writing on Pern, nobody would ever dream of threatening her very life. Some people disgust me.

On a lighter note, I hadn't heard of Andre Norton before, but I presume that Anne naming one of the ships in TTatH series (I think?) the Andre Norton is not a coincedence?

Also, the Wiki entry mentions Marion Zimmer Bradley. Am I crazy or is there a character in one of Anne's works named very similarly? I may be just imagining it ...

Definitely not a coincidence. As a fellow female SF writer, Andre was a friend of Anne's. And it's thanks to a suggestion from Andre that Pern has white Ruth.

I'm not sure however what you're thinking of in relation to MZBradley...

It's been mentioned in several different interviews from Anne. And if I remember correctly, Anne talked about it in her intro to the 40 Years of Pern book. Basically, Norton suggested that she should have a "sport" dragon, which should be white. (Not an athletic dragon, but a sport in the sense of a genetic oddity.)

Ahhh I see. I haven't read many Anne interviews, and I've not yet ordered a copy of the 40 Years of Pern book, so thank you!

Edith - maybe that's what I was thinking of ....... I don't know.

Sorry I'm just getting back in here. Ya know, the busy bee never sleeps and survives on stress tabs or the early worm works himself into an early grave or something like that... (heh, life's not bad, just a little hectic)

Ya, Pam, I noticed that in regards to the publisher and Amazon, too.

Thanks, everyone. Guess I'll just continue to wait. Impatiently.

Never read the third one, seems like it was out of print before I'd even heard it had been published. I seriously enjoyed the first one, the second one was okay, but not nearly as "win or die" as the first one, and reviews I came across had the third one as bad, very bad. I dunno if I'd hunt the fourth one down since my interest faded after the second of the series.

ummmmm, that's for Ray Bradbury, like the Arrakis was a planet from Frank Herbert's dune. The colony ships in Pegasus in Space were for prominent names in science fiction, in alphabetical order.
