Default French fries

A LONG while back we were discussing what people put on their fries, or chips.
Kibby was talking some kids in her class about that, but could not remember what the different things were. Especially the one called "The Works." She wanted to know if anyone could remind her what all was on it. A picture would be good.

I have no idea. When I went to school in England I developed a taste for vinegar on my chips (french fries).

Ketchup
Mustard
Mayonnaise
Cheese - any variety you want
Chili
Chopped onion - works well with cheese, chili, or both
Garlic powder - just a touch, especially with cheese, chili, or both
Chunky salsa
Ground beef, your choice of seasoning, to go in cheese of your choice.
This is all I could think of on short notice.

Any combination of the above that sounds good.

Personally, I like the little skinny fries like Steak 'n Shake has. For those who don't know about Steak 'n Shake, it's your loss, "and that's all I have to say about that."

Oooooooooooo salt & vinegar! One of my favorite potato chips! How could I have overlooked that combo for fries?

Red wine vinegar, though; not white. At least that's what we used in fish & chip shops. Darn, now I want fish & chips!

The works is what we call "Fries at war", that comprises fries with warm peanutbutter sauce (satay sauce), mayonnaise and finely chopped raw onions.
Then ther is "fries special" in which the peanutbutter suace is swapped for ketchup, there is a newer variation in which the kwtchup is swapped for curry sauce.

Maybe because it has become a generic name for any kind of sauce that is dark, asian (or at least has an asian label) and tastes after soy somewhat?

Always vinegar - most times tomato sauce/ketchup, never salt (bad for you ). Very occasionally curry sauce from the chinese takeaway where I get my fish and chips .

Priscilla - traditionally it's malt vinegar not red wine

Nope, Culver's fries are better! I like to eat them plain, though if I'm in the mood I might use mustard. Cheese as a very rare treat.

I put mayo on mine, sometimes. I live in the US, and I think this is considered a little strange to most other people in the area.

Someday, I want to go to Canada and try poutine.

Strange? Oh no!

I remember taking some American students, who were visiting London, out to an "Old Kentucky Pancake Kitchen".

They all ordered mayo sandwiches!

Claimed it was "home cooking!"
