Default Yet another move

We've looking at houses for the last couple of weeks (i.e. 2 months) and we've finally agreed on a price for a house that we like in the city where I work. If everything goes okay with the formalities of the buying of the house, we'll be moving in the middle of May.

(We ought to get a moving-house smiley with all the peeps moving about.)

Congrats, Nef!

It does seem that moving has become the favorite pasttime of MoM members...
I couldn't find a premade smiley that seemed to fit, but I worked on one myself, how does this seem?

Nice smiley - it looks like the house is definitely on the move.

I am so happy for you Ane, that you and Anders will finally
have a wonderful house of your own...some where your bird
can put down feathers too...
Please take lots of photos when you finally get moved in, so
we can have a peek at this place as well...Good Luck to you
both, I hope that this house will be full of laughter and love...
for a very long time.

We've moved so often lately that I think I can almost do it blindfolded, but if I need an extra hand, I'll let you know.

We have so many books, that we fill up the bottom of several moving boxes. Last time we moved I think we used a total of 60 something moving boxes all in all. It takes me about 3 days to put all our belongings in boxes and about the same to unpack again.

I'm looking forward to having my very own garden.

Erm you think the kitchen is nice? I'm thinking about replacing it with an IKEA kitchen. There's only one of those small combi ovens that Dutch people seem to like, but I want a proper oven so I can bake lots and lots of cookies and cakes.

Hans, it seems you really need to hurry up if you still want to visit us in Leiden - 'cause if all goes as planned I'll get the keys for the new house on May 15.

And once we've settled in at the new place you are of course also welcome to visit there; that goes for Edith too of course.

Nef, I was refering more to the size, the workspace. I couldn't judge appliances from a pic or this distance

I'll confer with Marjon about a visit to Leiden before the beginning of May. Maybe we can pick up Edith on our way to you and make it a true mini gather

Yay, that would be fun!

I'm soon having my own mini gather with Lindsey (which isn't really active in here anymore ) - I'm flying over to visit her in Virginia on March 28.
I'm very much looking forward to seeing her and her husband and daughter again and to see her new baby twins!

Peter...Lindsey's been gone for quite a while now, and took her portrait with her. Don't worry though, I think someday she'll be back on MoM, knitting away in her favorite Pen rocking chair.

I'm flying to Virginia to visit Lindsey this Saturday and I'll say hi from you all. I plan to bring my camera, and will of course post a link when they have been uploaded.

Regarding our new house.... The people selling the house are moving into a flat and asked us if we would be interested in letting their cat stay, so we are getting the cat who lives in the house! Her name is Nozem and she is 15 years old, but in good health. I have no pictures of her, but will of course take lots and lots of pictures of the cat and the house when we get the keys on the 15th of May.

Yay!!! I've really missed having a cat.

Odin (the parrot) has lived with a cat before, so I don't expect too much trouble; and the cat is an elderly citizen so it is quiet and not so exploring as a kitten. I'm sure it's going to work out fine between them.

I've started packing our stuff in boxes now. We get the keys to the new house on May 15, and we move furniture and boxes on May 20.

We went and looked at colour samples for painting the living room, bed room and staircase yesterday, so it looks like everything is running along as planned.

Fantastic news Ane, are you excited to finally be moving in to your own home? This one seems to be perfect for you and Anders...and your new addition... of the house cat!!

Did this house come with all that lovely furniture, or are you also out looking for your own furiture to go in your new house? To bad some of us can't be there to give you a hand with moving...we could have a house warming party at the same time!!!

The only thing that we get extra with the house is the cat.
We have brought our own furniture with us every time we've moved - i.e. from Denmark to Germany to Holland. We've bought some extra bookshelves along the way and replaced the sofa, so we've already got all the furniture we need.

I would like to put in a new kitchen, but that will have to wait until July.
Anders will be going to Japan for almost 4 weeks in June, and I will come visit him for 1 week. It's quite a puzzle to get everything planned, but it looks like I'm on top of everything so far.

I'm sure Hans and Edith will come visit sometime when we've settled and we can have a little MoM housewarming.
