Gold Our visit to Dragonhold

Lanen and I visited Anne at Dragonhold a few days ago. Here are some of the photographs I took while there. I will be sending Anne some prints of these pictures as part of our "Thank you" gift. (Lanen will be sending some cookies.)

Here is the welcome you find when arriving at Dragonhold. Greeted by Anne's gold dragons:

This is Dragonhold and some of Anne's front garden displays:

A closer view of the celtic horses and celtic cats attached to Dragonhold:

And here are some photos some of Anne's pets - her cats Maggie and Tigger and her dog Willow (who decided that a planter full of warm soil was a comfortable place to sleep):

All in all, Lanen and I had a wonderful time. It was great to see Anne again (we hadn't seen her since Eurocon 2007). It was also great to get to know Anne's minder Carol, who we discovered is simultaneously look after Anne, landscaping the garden and taking a law degree.

Thanks for sharing these! It's lovely to see Anne's current crop of pets along with how her garden is looking these days. I remember the entrance gate well from the amazing trip I got to make with Hans and Anneli to visit Anne seven years ago *happy sigh*.

Thanks Cheryl. That was a really quick reply.

Anne has another cat, Razzmataz, who was too shy to be photographed. Sadly, she lost her beloved Pumpkin just a few days before we visited. I hope we were a distraction for her.

I didn't show you any pictures from Anne's back garden. This is how the rose arbour looks these days, although I think we were too early to catch it in its glory:

StevenB, thanks so much for sharing the pictures! It's great to see Anne's place. I know she loves her gardens and even if they're not in bloom now it's easy to imagine that arbor filled with roses. Thanks again!

Kugai, did you notice Maggie has a "why have you stopped petting me to fiddle about with that camera" look on her face? Of the three cats, Maggie was the most friendly. She will put her paw out and tap you when she wants attention. By the way, Maggie is sitting on the kitchen table.

Jube, I didn't take any pictures of Anne. It didn't seem right to photograph her at home when she had invited us in and wasn't ready for a photograph. I could have taken a picture when Lanen and I took her out to dinner, but I ended up leaving my camera in the car - too many other things to think about. But I must say Anne was in fine form when we met her. She was looking really good, but frustrated by her lack of mobility.

I do love the picture of the Celtic horses and of course of Anne's pets!! The dog looks so precious in that picture. It’s amazing where some animals find it comfortable to sleep.

We'll have to ask Anne. They are very likely to be locally made.

By the way, I sent a copy of the photos to Anne, and she likes the ones of Maggie and Tigger, and especially the one of Willow.

Steven... I do enjoy getting to see Anne's many furry friends...its sad to hear about her dear Pumkin's passing. I bought a pale orange fur cat when Anneli and I were at a street sale in Copenhagen... right outside the Eurocon door. When Anne saw it, she ask me what I had named it, I told her with a wink it's name was Pumkin, after her own cat, which brought a lovely smile to her face.
I still have that fur cat...it sits on the top of my studio easel...just for a bit of good luck and sweet rememberance of a wonderful time with great friends.

Say...those cookies Lanen's making for Anne, they wouldn't be *Shortbreads* would they? I still remember those fantastic cookies
you sent us home with...YUMMMMMM!!

In rememberance of Pumpkin then, a very nice and enoyable cat! The picture I took when I first visited Anne at Dragonhold (together with Anneli and Cheryl) back in 2002.

Pumpkin was famous for drinking from the tap in anne's kitchen, and one morning I caught the cat at it

Hans, those are lovely pictures of Pumpkin. Did you ever send those pictures to Anne? Anne said she was going to frame the pet pictures I sent her. If you send her a copy, that first picture of yours would make a lovely framed portrait of Pumpkin to join the others.

Ginny, if you have chosen to subscribe to (all) threads, yes you get an email. But when you click on that you are ooking at the very same thread as you click on when you visit MoM without the subscription emails. So you don't see the thread/photo's earlier.

I thought you might have meant you visited the 2002 Dragonhold Visit on my website, but that can't be reached through links at MoM

Ah well, not important, never mind, just enjoy yourself

Han sometime looking at an image off site is easier on my eyes, bight images and I don't get along right now. Its quite "blinding" as if you are looking outside on a sunny day and see the sun relecting of things, cars for one thing. Its this blasted cataract that giving me most of the problems.

My eyes can't make the change fast, so I get overloaded by images.

That's okay StevenB, I don't mind and accepted your reply. Not everyone likes having their photo taken, especially if they're having problems with health issues or for whatever reason, best known to themselves.

Hans, that photo of Pumpkin is priceless.
