Stupid library! First they couldn't find one of the books, then dumped the whole lot! They had three Tower and Hive books, and dumped them!

I found the same at my library hardly any anne books at all.
They seem to only keep recent or consistant check out books in the library. The rest seem to be on sale. I buy Library books on line. It helps the system and they are usually alot cheaper than half price books.

Unfortunately libraries don't have an infinite amount of space. Often they have to move older books that haven't been checked out as much for newer, more popular books.

Do you have interlibrary loan, or something like it, so your library could get them in from another library?

I don't recommend buying every time you can't get something from the library - but if it is something you KNOW you will read again and again, you might as well...

I tend to read the hardback form the library as soon as it comes out; and then save up for the paperback.

I ended up buying SWS as my library didn't stock it. I also had to buy it off Ebay as none of m local shops stocked it!

@ P'ter: so true

At my library, you have to reserve a popular book at least 2 months in advance to get a hold of it, but they're usually really good about it.

I used to preorder from my library on all books before i considered buying them. Which I end up doing with my fave authors. but I digress from the point. Luckily my old library had almost all of annes books, though spread out across the county. They even had some of the popular ones like TWD in Spanish.

I always use the local library when I am doing research or trying out a new author. When I finally decide that I really want the book, then I go and find a copy on the internet and buy it.
I have been a bit surprised lately that the library doesn't have all the books that they use to. There was a day when they always had the book you were looking for, but not now.

yep, then when they do sell things they don't bother to look stuff up so my brother got a 1st edition of The Light Fantastic (rare) for 20p- less than 50c.
I realy hope they listened to me when I said that their copy of Decision at Doona was rare!- I doubt it!

I can't find stuff by less popular authors now in Powys-though the librarians are helpful. I'm going to join the aber library as I'm going to be in aber for at least half the summer! So I can see what they've got!
