Default How do people pronounce...

Ryssa.
I've always read Ryssa to rhyme with Clarissa but I was read PinF and noticed that she is Rhys for short, which to me is a Welsh man's name pronounced Reeess.
What do people think?

I pronounce it Rees-sa, with the ending as in Lisa.

I pronounce it Rye-sa. Always default to phonetic unless I'm given some reason to doubt it.

Well, as I knew how Rhys is supposed to be pronounced, I just added the -sa to the end.

I used to not know the correct pronunciation of Rhys, so I always thought of her as Rye-zsa. Similarly I thought of a character of Katherine Kurtz's as Ryes. I still think of both this way even though I know what's correct now -- you can't change the pronunciation of someone's name after that many years. The really ironic bit is that we used Rhys for my son's middle name, and it of course is pronounced correclty as Reese.

I've always pronounced it Rissa. And for Rhys I just used Riss. I have no idea if it is right or not.

Rissa. But perhaps hanging a bit longer on the first syllable, so it's somewhere between a hard Ri- and a long Ree. Say Rear-Sir quickly and that's about it for me.
