Post 9 Stars?

Undoubtedly this has been asked a gazillion times before now, but unfortuantely I've not been around to view the results, so if you kind MoMmers will indulge me, I have a little question.

In the very first book in TTatH series, it mentions the 9 Star League. Do we know which stars make up this league?

Obviously they can't be including Iota Aurigae as that system isn't settled until way into the series.

Again with the obvious, numero uno would be our sun, let's call it Sol. Then there would be the Capellan system. Then the Altairian system, and even playing it safe, let's include the Denebian sun.

Which leaves the rather large number of 5 other star systems which I can't recall being mentioned off the top of my head. It could just be me here, which is why I am appealing to the vast amounts of knowledge which exists out there! (Sheesh, I feel like some kind of recruitment poster.)

Can anyone else help me here please?????

Hm, Vega's the only one for sure...Part of the list I penned in the back cover of my copy of The Rowan. And I think it was mentioned in there.

Yes, Vega was definitely another one. Anne's timelines being what they are it's hard to say for sure. I actually don't think there were 9 stars in the 9 star league!

By the time we get to The Rowan they had Prime Towers on Earth, Callisto, Altair, Procyon, Betelgeuse, Vega and Capella. Deneb got its own proper Tower when Jeff was promoted to Earth Prime, although it'd take Jeran growing up before it was promoted to a Prime Tower.

Ahhhh, but Callisto is in orbit around Jupiter - making it part of the Sol system. It is clearly named the Nine STAR League, not the Nine Tower League.

And adding Vega still only makes 7 .........

I also think that there is a reference to other alien worlds being part of the League (something to do with furniture at Blundell Cube being made to fit different forms?), and yet no further mention is made of anybody other than Humans and Mrdinis. Also, if there were other alien worlds in the League, why would so many of the Terrans have such a xenophobic approach to the 'Dinis?

Because they're different?

I would wonder if Clarf's tower was being included, except that it was called the 9 Star League before they even met the Mrdini.

So, what's a likely candidate for the other two? My thought would be Alpha Centauri and Spica, or something. Considering how close they are.

LOL You kind of met yourself coming and going with that one, Tressa! There was no Tower in any Mrdini system at the beginning when the 9 Star League is mentioned because there was no Mrdini Alliance until the 2nd book and only after Damia and the others had been zapped by Sodan.

Considering that Alpha Centauri is our closest star, that'd be a fair assumption I think! I'm not sure, but as it stands at the moment, there is no evidence for any planets around Alpha Centauri (feel free to correct me) but that's not to say that there aren't any (absence of proof is not proof of absence, after all). And it's Anne's universe anyway!!

You're right. Alpha Centauri and Spica sound likely, but they're never mentioned in the books. It may be that some star systems didn't have a Tower although they were part of the League, and thus weren't mentioned by the Talents.

Yeah, I know. I'm saying I don't think Clarf was being counted for the reason you stated, Gidget. So it had to be something else, maybe even one of those other aliens that are mentioned and then just seem to disappear. Or other human colonies.
