Any good Benden red? I have a document to read

My RL wine is JP Chenet and ok- but it was an unwanted bottle given to me, rather than my choice

I do not care what the rules are. Kibbie is too young to drink, or (concidering where we are) smoke.
Wellllllll I guess a taste will not hurt her, but if she is sick tomorrow you are taking care of her. NO SMOKING.

Don't worry Maw: I don't smoke. Never have except for a puff or two as a teenager (didn't like the taste)

In RL I almost never drink; but I made my daughters try a few different drinks round about seven. They each decided it wasn't for them and they didn't change their minds until over 18. It seems to be working for the g'kids too, except that Andi (bless her) gets a slurp of communion wine most Sundays.

Drinking is something totally different to tasting, Maw

I have the same experiences as Peter. Don't forbid your kid(s). Let him/her taste if and when they want to. Added advantage is that at a young age they usually don't like alcohol and there's a reasonable chance they will remember the "bad" taste and start drinking it much later than when it seems a "forbidden fruit". Same goes for later. Niels got really violently drunk on beer with a group of friends while on a school course when he was about 16-17 and he never drank too much after that.

Life is built of experiences and experiences are a necessity in life

Keep an eye on things as good as possible but do not try to control nor forbid.

For everything there is a reason... etc.

Yep!
I've never drunk much, but I'd had access before I was of age, and while I enjoy a drink, I enjoy it for the search of flavour rather than to get drunk!

Same for me. My parents had parties on the weekends when I was a kid and we could sip a taste now and then. Just did not seem worth it. I have some on special occasions like Anniversaries and New Years. That is it.

Hans, I am glad they gave you an apron. I would hate the temptation to peek.

I have never wanted to drink. On very rare occasions I might have a wine cooler. Maybe once every couple of years. Kibbie was being pesty today & I asked Mom if I was to old to start drinking. She said yes I was to old. What do you think, is there an age where you are to old to start drinking.

Mawra, I agree with Hans. My parents allowed us to sip their beer or wine but it was only in small amounts. Now as a result, although we did go "blotto" when we were younger (after turning 18 years old) on occasions, we've learnt to curb the excess and become reasonable adults. My darling has had a few sips but like Kibbie, went yuk on the beer and wine but thought vodka was okay. I very quickly took my drink off him when I worked out that he was going for mine more quickly then his father's. I wasn't planning for a drunk kid on my hands. So I learnt that if he comes near me, when I have alcohol, 1 sip is more then enough for him at the moment. Not that desperate to have him keel over in a little heap. I guess it teaches them to learn to respect it as oppose to getting totally dependent on it.

My question is for those who live in Europe - don't they have watered-down wine for kids anyway when there's a marriage, death in the family, normal meals etc? Vaguely heard something on tv about it, think it was in Italy or Greece but not 100% sure on it.

Blotto means being extremely drunk for those about to ask me what it means.

I don't know about Italy and Greece but I know watered down wine is perfectly normal for kids in France (personally encountered it in southern France, Bodeaux wine area), and not only on special occasions. This is done with (cheap) country/table wines, mind. I also know that in ancient times watered fown wine was a perfectly normal practice in Geece even for adults. In those days they wouldn hardly drink the neat stuff.

In meieval times people also drank watered beer, something I happened to be talking about with our Lanen not so long ago. In Dutch it was called "thin beer". I'm told some of the current American beers are still watered down as the American palate seems to like a lighter beer.

During 19th century, and for much of the 20th, wine was a rare drink in England, except for those in the professional and upper socio-economic groups. So there wasn't much call for watered wine for the children: they were in the nursery.

There is not anyone around Kibby that realy drinks much. Mom use to sip on brandy, but agter her stroke she has not wanted any. Once in awhile Tiny (hubby) will drink beer or on VERY rare occions something stronger. So far Kibby has not realy like anything that she has tasted. I do let her try a sip of wine on the rare occions that we have it. She is like me, she likes the fruitier tasting wines.

I will be living with Mom & Tammy for now on. We decided that with Mom being unabe to move her left arm that there are a lot of things that she will need help with. Tammy works strange hours, so it would be best for us to move in with Mom to help out.

It depends on if we get a different computer or not. This time we are takin my nieces boyfriend. He know a lot more than we do. I also think men are treated better than women when if comes to electroinics.
