Okay so I'm a show-off

Well it's true, every now and again, I find something or receive something in the mail and mind you, this has been awhile in the making......I say this because someone always comes up with something (Hans, Cheryl and Becky, you can stick your hands up here ) and I go "I've got that on my bookshelf" or "I'm waiting for that in the mail but the cover looks different to theirs" etc...etc...etc... Anyway here goes, a few choice tidbits that I brought or received in the last year...

Now this is the pile of books, I've been waiting for from the USA. Although the "SERVE IT FORTH", I got from Dymocks:

Courtesy of Cheryl and my sister:

Courtesy of Deanne, the local op shop and Dymocks:

The library's usual book sale produced these gems. They were donated by someone in the community and I found them very cheap. Mainly because most of my books are paperback, with very few hardbacks so slowly working through the list Now if you're wondering why 2 copies of "Damia's Children", the dust jacket has 2 different printings on the spine - one with, one without the publisher on the spine. I did scan both in but working out which file it's in at the moment before I produce the reason why.

At least for the newbies, it gives them an idea of what to look for, e.g. available covers, titles etc. Hope it helps JUBE

Oh my goodness! What a wonderful collection (or part of, I'm guessing). I have a couple of those. It is very interesting seeing all the different styles of covers people have!

Suggestion. If anyone has an unsigned copy of Mary Brizzi's book, and they are going to Albacon, she is going to be there.

What a wonderful haul, Jube. Is that "Serve It Forth" still in print?
It's about the only McCaffrey book I have not read
I must see if I can find a copy somewhere - it won't be in NZ!

Wow indeed, that is some addition to your collection! Those are some beautiful books, Jube, well done and well chosen. But... no courtesy Hans despite I was the one who send the Dutch books to Cheryl? Maybe you find it a nice idea by paying for those you actually helped built not only your but also my McCaffrey Collection!
Anyway, great addition to what must already be a very nice collection

Somewhat silly: it feels quite special that books I bought not only traveled the world but now belong to your collection, a collection of a fellow AMC collector.

The next 2 photos have been displayed in "Show us your bookshelves" (gotta work out where it is but maybe someone will beat me to it ) Yes, what I've found is only part of what I have available to me. I think there's only a few books left on my list and viola, it should be complete to my satisfaction, unless Hans keeps bringing out something new and then ..... as the saying goes "how am I suppose to keep up with the Jones?"

Okay doke to the questions, comments etc.... Thanks all for doing so!

Priscilla, I do have an unsigned copy of Mary T. Britzi's book (see first photo) unfortunately I won't be going to Albacon, otherwise...... love to have it signed.

Hans, then it's entirely your fault that I got the Dutch books in the first place (but I'll say thanks to Cheryl as well for organising it all). Thank you and a big bear hug / a friendly "I LOVE YOU" for making all the books out there possible for everyone to find. You can start ing now, hubby will just have to buy me a large book shelf for xmas then.

Lady Maelin, I didn't get all these in one hit. It's taken several trips to the library, Dymocks and going online to search for all these.

LILY, I have a spare copy of "Serve it Forth". I have a box of Anne and Todd books that, if I double up on, I put into and eventually it goes on to ebay - it helps me look for new additions to my "collection". I'll send a pm and see if you still want it. However I'll have to go to the post office on Monday and find out what it'll cost to post to NZ.

Actually I forgot to add that, when I first started, Collins Booksellers, Dymocks, Angus and Robertson and Minotaur are great booksellers for getting new books. For used books, yard sales, ebay and a few other places were also handy. Then I found MoM and 3 members have helped me out with looking for books.

I agree with you Lady Maelin. I have tidied it up a little since these pictures were taken. However with the new additions, the book case may end up being a necessity. I'd love to take a photo when that happens just to show off again. Plus I need a spot to put all my dragons as well.

Thanks Ginny.

Of course you have to be a "show-off"......A book collection is wonderful too look at and you wouldn't want to deprive the rest of us Hubby really does need to get you that bigger book case because you have to have your dragons mixed in with displaying your books.

Oooh, they invited Brizzi to AlbaCon? She's the analyst that Anne doesn't think much of... I'd known it but was reminded of it by Robin Roberts at WorldCon. She likened many of Anne's heroines to Cinderella, such as Lessa, which Anne takes great umbrage with.

Yes, she's coming, though in the Panelist list she's used her "other" name, Mary Turzillo. I don't know why they invited her if Anne doesn't like her much. All I can say is I had several very pleasant email exchanges with her. . .

This is a 2-in-1 edition of To ride Pegasus and Pegasus in Flight. My darling sister got this book for me, several years ago when she moved to the USA to work.

Any other questions?

I'm a hidden collector, can't you guess ? Most of these I've picked up along the way and figured I'd push a few titles out. I think Hans and possibly...O fruitloop, the names escape me but I know there's a thread where everyone worked out what they had and there was 3 people who had an extensive collection, hence all the collecting highlights, I guess that Hans, Becky and Cheryl have discovered. Figured I'd bring mine out of the closet (bookshelf?) and see what others have got in comparison.

I'll share responsibility (for any AMC related collecting) with Cheryl gladly, after all, I think she is at least 50% responsible for MY collection addiction
I'm very glad and proud that thse Dutch books are in your collection so far away from home though so clearly in their rightful place!

Thanks Hans I'll let you in on a secret though. I had to hide these back in the box, Cheryl sent me, along with 3 other books. Mainly as a result of bookcase troubles. Actually the bookcase next to this one is much larger and not so many books on it, hubby may just have to re-organise his shelves to this smaller bookcase so I can put mine on the larger one. He may get out of it, perhaps Our problem is that our study-come-library is also home to my eBay/"market" stuff (love going to markets and selling stuff as well as on eBay) so until I can get rid of about 8-12 boxes of eBay/"market" stuff, hubby has said that the bookshelves will be put off until I can clear out some stuff to make room for it. Fair enough, it's a question of when for me!

I don't think you can publicly shame him anyway as he's not a Pern fanatic like we are. Occasionally he pops in and has a look when I'm on and mainly with the Where in the World threads are on. Even Junior has a look at that but otherwise, neither have quite got into it, in the same way I have! *shrugs shoulders here*

Hans...Well send me a pm in regards to your ebay address and I can then deal with you directly (waves to Cheryl, sorry mate but....). Hubby says thanks for making me clean some of my mess off the computer desk as well as what's in boxes. It's been a busy month on Ebay for me so I've been throwing a few empty boxes into the recycle bin today - the council emptied it this morning so I've been filling it up again . Mind you, I've sorted out about 3 boxes of books I want to sell on ebay and unfortunately I have to wait until next week to start putting them up. I'm visiting my mum this weekend so I get to go a-hunting

Before I forget, Lily, your book will be in the post tomorrow .

Lily, yes Aussie Post lost a parcel on Hubby dearest when he sold something on Ebay and the person didn't get the parcel so he had to refund their money and lost out on a sale as well as p/h, ebay etc fees so I'm glad you got your parcel.

Hans I did try a recipe but can't remember which one, except it was a casserole and it was quite nice.

Jube - I didn't find your note with the book until just now
I am enjoying, thank you, and thank you for the book mark too, I always keep a marker in my books so it is most useful

And - I tried out a recipe. A very simple one - the family were not convinced when I told them it was Pickled Pigs Eyes, but grand son approved and would have scoffed the lot if allowed. They were very nice with the ham salad I was eating at the time.

I will try others - I suspect a fairly good basic knowledge of cooking is required in several cases
