Default Feeding your dragon

If this has been discussed before please feel free to delete this thread.

I find myself wondering how many herdbeasts/wherries/other animals it takes a week to feed a dragon. How many does a dragon eat at a time? How many dragons are there at any given time in a weyr? How often does a dragon eat?

I've thought about this too. Apart from all the animals that would have to be held in a weyr they need feed. So where does that come from? I wonder how much the dragons feed from outside the weyr? They do like a good long hunting trip, don't they?

I almost always translate it as cow, but yep, it's a problem because the Pernese seem to use it to mean any mammal bred for meat rather than milk.

Skywaterblue Thanks! I love that thread, it really goes into the logistics of weyr life.

Anareth I always took it to mean cattle myself.

Tai in The Skies of Pern, said that half her wing was feed, and with two felines her green would be fed for a sevenday
