Dragon brooches:

Dragon bracelet:

There's no doubt that you're a McCaffrey fan when... you start to
design/create in dragon mode.
Among the many crafts I love, I'm an ardent fan of hand-sewing,and making jewellery (www.milward.org.uk/jewellery) so I'm now more than happy to have found a way of combining the two, a craft known to some of its "doers" as needle weaving. It's several relatively simple ways of joining tiny beads together, almost as a mosaic is put together, or even a TV screen in pixel terms.
I've posted a couple of pictures of my dragon offerings so far; the two single dragons (one green, one an arbitrary purple mix as its recipient is a fan of these colours) are brooches. The bracelet., which I made for myself, has colour interpretations of various Mc Caffrey dragons such as Ruth and Mnementh as well as the scarlet one in tribute to Notts. Forest.
To give you some idea of the scale, each bead is approximately 1.2mm in diameter and the completed dragon head measures just over an inch/2.5cm.
Each head takes about an hour and half to complete - a labour of love but one I really enjoy.

If you've a particular favourite dragon you'd like me to make and post, let me know - I just love making them. The pattern is available from www.threadabead.com, an excellent site, if a bit slow, for charts which can be worked in beads or even cross stich.

Sorry if this all sounds a bit nerdy - I hold my hands up and accept the tag with gratitude!

He's glorious!
I still do cross stitch and my love for that is probably why I enjoy doing the same thing in beads.
My old man was in a band called Pegasus when we first met, and ironically today is our wedding anniversary...aaaah!
Have you tried the miniature cross stitch on silk gauze? I did a watchface for myself and some earringy type things as gifts some years ago now; it's on 80 count silk -yes, 80! - but as it's actually only half-cross stitch it's not as fiddly as it sounds.
I wonder why it is I really like doing things that are so minute? Does it mean I'm small-minded maybe?
