Hey there!
Since I'm having a bit of friendly competition with a friend, I'm keeping a list of all my reading this year. You'll be incensed to know that thus far there's been no Anne (but if the book discussions become a reality in the Pern forum, that'll change). Anyway, here's the list thus far. Havn't heard of most of them! Hey, that's not fair, you've read more than me this year. Last year I had a competition with my friend, we drew at about 36 but then we were at school so had to study! I've kept a log of every book I've read since I was 12, it's like 11 pages long now, not including all the ones I've read again, which is over 100

I read every night; usually I might watch telly for an hour, but rarely more, on a given day. The rest of the time is taken up with reading, and, if I've finished early, or taken a break on work during the day itself, I drag out the book.
If I have to walk into town I bring a book to read as well. I did that when I met Chris on Friday -- I was reading poetry there and back, and I loved it. (I even read on the bog.) |

I started keeping a spreadsheet of the books I read in 2004, and it's quite fascinating. I read 127 different books last year, well over 30K pages total. Of those, fewer than 20 were books I'd ever read before. This year, so far, I'm at 22 and going strong, reading over 70 pages a day.
I don't read graphic novels, but I will read childen's, teen, or other juvenile books on occasion. I work in the children's department of a public library, so it's good business sense to know the merchandise! A large portion of the rest of the books are writing-related since I am a freelance writer, and the remainder run the gamut from interesting non-fiction, biography, fiction, fantasy, and so on. It really is interesting to keep track, and I've found a number of excellent books by being open to trying new genres and so forth. Happy reading! |

I've slowed down over the last fortnight. I've been luxuriating in a biography of John Fowles, and not much else beside. I did start Lolita last night, and I am enjoying that.
I shall pick up my reading pace soon. I have a number of books on order, and several more waiting to be put on layby. |

And that list is from 2005 alone?? In the past 3 months??
Shells!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() You either read fast and/or have a lot of free reading time. I read relatively slow--average is 10 pages per hour. ![]() Here's my 2005 reading list thus far: Dragonseye; Anne McCaffrey Marco's Millions; William Sleator Indian in the Cupboard; Lynne Reid Banks (Didn't finish as I was just waiting for my copy of Gift of Dragons to arrive.) "Ever the Twain"; Anne McCaffrey Dragon's Kin; Anne & Todd McCaffrey Dragonsblood; Todd McCaffrey Moreta: Dragonlady of Pern; Anne McCaffrey I should be finishing Moreta by Sunday and starting on Nerilka's Story.

I really can't remember all the books I read starting in Jan. I have a two hour train ride to work each way. Looking out the window is no fun when you seen it a thousand times. I takes me about three days to finsh one book.

I read almost every night; the main exception being Mondays when Queer as Folk is on the air.
I might post the list as it stands at the end of this month. Make you scared even more with the amount I've gotten through thus far... ![]() |
