I would be Kris Bjornsen from Freedoms. She was lucky enough to get dropped on Botany with people who tryed to learn from mistakes made on Earth. I could totally start anew with ignorance left behind. Plus everything was built green and clean. (kinda helps if stuff is already there)

You know, I think I'd nick Tai's life, although I wouldn't feel constained to taking on her hang-ups as well. Or the hair-do, for that matter. Aside from her "issues" she had a pretty decent life - a rather special dragon, and an interest in astonomy. Suits me fine!

Or [weirdly, given the spellings] maybe Tia's life. Yeah, it had its bad moments, but she ended up achieving everything she wanted, even to the point of sidestepping the disadvantages of a shelled body.

Kris from freedoms. No talent... no dragon...no perfect pitch. Just an ordinary college girl from denver who did stuff because it had to be done! Not because of special abilities or her status. and ... she was the first to deal with some very real interacial stepparent issues as well as playing "oopse who's your daddy?" a couple of times for the team.

I was going to say Damia, but it really depends on if I'd really become the character, or me in their shoes. If me in their shoes, then no...I mean, being a Prime Talent is very restrictive and repetitive. It would drive me nuts, it's not creative enough. But if I actually became the character, with their personality...then Damia. She has a great guy, grew up in a pretty darn good family (nothing like Menolly's family, or Lessa's childhood, or Robinton's sour relationship with his dad). Good job, lots of talent and Talent. And she seems quite happy.

If my own personality shone through, probably Menolly. (my own personality would make my life as Damia pretty rocky) I quite literally got up and left home just like Menolly when I was a teen, pretty much for the same reasons as Menolly's in the story. And we have similar personalities, although I'm perhaps a little more cold and cynical at times.

I wouldn't mind being a non-Prime high Talent, though. Lots of opportunities there.

I would choose to be the character that Maelin has "created" for me; a quiet, happy Thread Crafter living by the sea. I would create pictures 'with' thread, and pictures of Dragons and their Riders conquering Thread. In that way my craft title would carry a double meaning!

Methinks I've three to choose from here.

Silvina - Kind, efficient, and she gets to scold Robinton. |3 What? Someone needs to do it!

Saday - (Free cookie to the person who knows who this character is. )

Sarea - My own Pernese Persona, based from yours truly. A woodcrafter living in Lemos (Where else?) With a stable life thus far, but with potential to travel and do other things as well. ^^

My mind immediately went to Menolly as a character whose life I wouldn't mind living just because of my love for music.

I suppose that I would be happy with anything as long as the character's life involved music of some sort.

She is the mother of boys Torlin and Valrol (who is married to Pessia) and daughter Klada (who wants to marry one of neighbour Sucho's sons)..

First thought of Rowan as she is my favourite, but I think I would like to be one of Damia's children, Laria maybe - just growing up with Afra as my father in a family where gentle guidance, understanding and development of talent is a given - umm would like that! Then also because I would like to flip flop around the stars under my own power and everything just a thought away - teleportation too!

Pern: first thought of Menolly, but Sylvina is more me, I think, a strong female kind firm intelligent organiser and leader.

Freedom: Do I dare to be Kris, a strong and willful surviver? In my dreams maybe.

Doona: a child playing tails - carefree and joyful, having a whole planet to discover.

The Rowan is my favourite!

"The name rowan is believed to derive from the Norse runa - "a charm". It was often planted outside houses to ward off witches. On May Day a spray of rowan leaves was hung over doors to repel evil, and wells dressed with rowan to keep witches away. The rowan, or mountain ash, is found commonly in Scotland, sometimes clinging to a rock face."

This is a really good question. It would have to be from Pern, as that's the series I've read the most books of, and the first name that came to mind was Menolly.

A green dragon...there really is no other choice!

If I had to be a human, it would be a hard choice between Lunzie or Damia...probably Damia, besides Talent, she had a lot of love in her life.

I'd have to say Kris Bjornson from the Freedom series. She's the type of person who seemed to have a strong personality to begin with, and getting abducted and dropped on a strange planet (facing adversity) just made her more so, physically and mentally. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!!

I've always kind of had a thing for Sharra of Pern. She's so independent and self-reliant- exploring all over the Southern Continent on her own, yet also a fantastic mother and healer! Although I very much admire certain parts of Lessa's personality, her focus on revenge is a tad disturbing. And I definitely wouldn't want the drudge part of her life! Maybe a combo of SharrA and Lessa?

(grin) I almost said Brekke because of Canth and F'nor, but rejected that idea right away (sorry Brekke)! Grall??

Hmm, for a human charactor, I'd be Menolly. Like her, I walked away from home. Unlike her,I fled terrible physcial abuse, leaving it all behind, regretting and missing nothing. I enjoy music, and played a few instruments as a kid. Used to write peotry. i don't do much instrument playing or lyrical writting. I won't even try to play instruments now sicne I'd forgotten the finger placements for the stringed instruments.

I'd like to be a Dragon rider, wouldn't mind riding a queen because they're fast and can fly for long periods. I don't, however want to be a weyr woman. I'd rather aid her. elping to find people who have strengths then deligaite.

Sebell! For a very simple and clear reason : Menolly! 8-)

If that shouldn't be possible : Jaxom. I don't really like him but there's another simple and clear reason : Nerilka! 8-))

And if that shouldn't be possible, neither : That, äh, hm, what's his name again? That guy with the moustache. Ah! F'lar! : For ... 8-))

OK, really now. Piemur seems to be a decent choice.

Ahem, yes.

Got that mixed up.

So Alessan would be Character choice #2 (He's not as bad as Jaxom, but ... hm)

Well, when i'm wrong i'm completely wrong so i have to correct my "serious" choice from Piemur to F'nor... (Of course, silly me. Always was and will be an Fan of F'nor and Canth)

(Note to myself : Re-re-...-re-read the whole Series or stop forgetting/mixing up things )

None of these would faze me -- Rowan, Damia, Lessa, and Killa all live rich, interesting lives -- which is more than enough for me.
Neither would the transgender thing, for that matter -- might even be fun... or at least interesting.

Hey, try looking at it this way: at least their lives were interesting.
Of course, it figures that would be the prime consideration for me with my "chaos incarnate"-class personality.

Or failing that, you could be Elena Estes (Tami Hoag) -- she gets to work with horses, and really screw up criminal scum's lives.
Or Antoinette ("Annie") Broussard (Hoag), or Tess Bailey (Susanne Brockman), or...

Favorite character? I like both F’lar and Lessa, but I don’t think I could ever be them. Maybe… Robinton (aside from the whole gender switching bit)… but no. I wouldn’t like to have a father like him. His life wasn’t easy.
I’ll settle for Sharra. I know she isn’t much of a character, and I wouldn’t like to have a kind of brother that she had (my brother is 7 years older than me, and we love each other), but, at the end, she got it good.

For me, mere are my choices

Pern - Human: Menolly (as I sing and create my own tunes, though I need tolearn to write music and recognise pitch) or Sorka, or Torene.
Pern - non-human: A green dragon (me not maternal at ALL)

Brainship/Crystal Singers- Tia and Killashandra respectively. OK Tia has the issue with her paralysis but got compensated by being flexible of mind enough to become a brainship.

PTB - Yana Maddock

Talent - Laria

Doona - Todd! Or a Hrruban child.

Can't think of a character from any of the other series' The Sassinak books left me totally cold (didn't manage to even finish the first one), and the women from the Ransom series have pretty shitty lives pre-Botany!

Restoree was very good but again..the idea of having to endure being skinned...*shudders* no thank you!

I'm going to go by series for those that I have an interest in:

Pern:
I'd love to have Jancis' life; she is highly intelligent, creative, and has an impact on Pern, without having the painful past or heavy responsibilities that mar the lives of most of the lead characters. (Plus I'm more than a bit afraid of falling, so flying on a dragon would probably freak me out WAAAAAY too much.)

Talent:
Barque cat allllll the way! If I had to be a human, I think I'd be happy as Elizara. Still powerful in her own right, but a far more nurturing nature than any of the Primes and again, lacking the harrowing background.

Body Heir:
The Coleura's Lady Caissa. She's smart and charming, and she has a similarly smart and charming buea. It's all good there.

Shellperson:
Hypatia is my favorite of the shellpersons, and I love her flexibility and general demeanor.

I'm going to have to to with Sylvina. I'd love to be around all the music and that talent but not having any of it myself I'd settle for working in the Harper Hall!! (And getting to scold Robinton isn't such a bad thing either!! )
