So far, Jube and P'ter have it right. CW, if you're looking downtown, you aren't.

Yeah CW!

Yes, it is the Lackawanna County Coal Mine and Anthracite Museum. We took the kidling there when she was two and she had a blast on the tour....I kept asking how the hell my grandfathers managed to work in such holes (actually, one grandfather worked that very shaft) and not lose their sanity.

Woah that's awesome! I sort of have a little bit of claustrophobia about things underground, but I'd be interested to tour someplace like that! TFS AnnMarie

I am HIGHLY claustrophobic, CW...I survived the tour. Actually, I did better on that tour than on my ride on London's Underground!

HIGHLY claustrophobic, I am a bit, and Dan J. is very, its taken him a bit to get use to the 5 wheel that Dad's camps in.

My dad's pickup a load of salt, at mine once. I have to ask him about it some time.

I've done one tour through a gold mine in Ballarat and also did a caving tour through Buchan Caves (not sure if hubby put the photos up or I did for him) and I can remember the guide actually saying that if one turned off all the electric lights, one could easily get lost in the Buchan Caves. She did so to prove how the guy who discovered the caves took quite awhile to get from one end to the other because of the complete darkness in the caves so yes, it can be a little scary if one's not used it and very claustophic at the same time because you just don't know ..... think I'll get off the subject now ...... the thought of the poor dude who went through it all so that we could enjoy the underground scenery 100 years later. There's always got to be someone who naturally has to explore and find out the whys, hows etc of a certain thing, don't they?
