I don't see any thread for this one already started, so here goes:
Who were your favourite characters, or your favourite Good Guys on Botany, and why? What was it that endeared them to your heart? ![]() My favourites were the Deski, and specifically Coo and Pes ![]() There are a few others that are favourites of mine as well, but i will wait until you all have had a chance to talk about yours first. ![]() |

Zainal, without question. I'd trade places with Kris in a minute if it meant having him as well.

I think Chuck was the most heroic of the lot, especially in the early days. Kris and Zainal were brave too, of course, but they had each other to root for. Chuck had no love interest or loyalty to any of that lot but he committed himself to his fellows in amazing ways and through a lot of ups and downs. If it hadn't been for Chuck, Zainal would have died early on and most of the dropees would never have left the drop field.

I'm with Sandi. The only thing I don't like about Chuck is his name.

Good point, AnnMarie. Maybe we two could call him Charles? Or maybe just Mitford.

Zainal and Mitford (as opposed to Chuck
![]() I really liked Coo, Pess and Slav in the first book - it was a shame they seemed to get replaced by humans in the later books as they could have been interesting. I liked the dynamics of that scouting team in Landing. The humans I liked were the Doyle brothers, Lenny and Ninety. They were very accepting of the aliens, Zainal included, and also seemed like very useful, friendly fellas to know. I also quite liked Brone, the boys tutor, although he didn't exactly feature much. |

Mitford, just because he took every breathing body off the field. A lot of people would have left those were no awake to help themselves.

i must say Zainal would be my favourite and i would also trade places with Kris; but Mitford's loyalty to humanity makes him also a very likeable character; Kris herself is very human and at times so uncertain of herself - it makes her someone anyone can identify with at some time or another in their lives, which makes her a cool character.

I'll have to agree with you. I really haven't really read enough of these books to be here but I've read enough to have formed an opinion.

OK I like the Deski, but my hearing is sensitive, and I would not like it to be any more so.

Mitford would have to be one of my favorite characters, he was the one to take the respondsibility onto himself to see that they all had a second chance at life and making it work. He tried to make sure they all had worth and respect in the community.
