Why did I suddenly get the image of someone using a fire-lizard as a lighter by yanking on its tail? Probably courtesy of Mulan is my guess...

Then there's the image of a fire lizard as an individual hot-dog cooker (again, pulling the tail). Problem is, how do you keep it from eating the hot-dog...

Awwww, poor little fire-lizard. Just 'cause they're small. . .

Actually, now I'm thinking cooked hot dogs- yum. Let's see, a method of hot dog cooking that doesn't involve either building a fire, or fire-lizard abuse? Microwaves don't count

Maybe thinking of thread would get them to want to breathe fire.

Now, if you want to flash freeze the hot dog, just tie it to their leg, and think of the Red Planet.

What about a solar oven? Only thing is, it'd take a while, but if you are willing to wait. . .

They could keep a steam generator going to produce electricity. They could rotate and take turns doing it so that no one dragon felt over taxed.

It may be fun but it's hardly gratuitous. You have to feed them firestone if you want them to flame.

I know a few people have talked about snow, but seriously. I would have a dragon clear the snow off my car and heat it up a little--of course, the problem would be not melting parts of the car! My driveway would get the same treatment, and it'd get weed removal in the summer the same way.

I would also use dragonflame to keep the geese off my lawn. Goodness. Those little buggers do some horrible work. I'd like to see them want to come back after a good flaming.

I thought of another one. . . filling hot-air balloons so folks can have rides and there can be races, etc. Wouldn't have to use the propane flame that way.

True, but how to bring the dragon along for the ride?

How about the dragon and their rider can fly alongside the balloon and escort it? The balloon can be for folks who can''t or don't want to ride dragonback, but still have the experience of flight. :-)

Commander Vimes in Discworld (Feet of Clay) used swamp dragons to light his cigars, by tickling them under the chin.

Melting snow in the courtyard so that the water can freeze into a skating rink!
