Default The Thread of LOOT!

Now, we all know there is a true meaning of Christmas. And, we went to church last night and loved the carols and service.

However, we also like to share what we got and gave for Christmas. So here's that Thread!

I got a NOOK Tablet with all the accessories needed to keep me happy for a very long time. Can't wait for it to be fully charged so I can begin playing with it.

I got Jeff a parrot. No, not a real one. It was for sale in a thrift store and it has wind chimes hanging from it's feet. It is real parrot sized and the reason I got it for him is because every time we go to DisneyWorld he has to go into the Tiki Room and watch the animatronic bird show. Now he has his very own Tiki Bird to put out on the back deck railing!

I got Jenn and Mike a handmade quilt by Aranel with a pirate theme, and another for Fred that is just patches of flowers and patterns. Also, got Jenn and Mike a new bedspread for their king sized bed that has palm trees and sea shells on it.

Now working on Christmas dinner, which is a re-run of Thanksgiving dinner foods. Wonderful, wonderful Christmas!

Was a thinner year o' loot. What with no job and no unemployment. Thankfully we'd bought things throughout the year. Leelan and I got one present from each other. Both were things we'd bought in the beginning of the year and squirreled away. Here's mine.I've wanted them for years, never possible on a single mom income and then they stopped making them. My stable is different. (better a flat roof so the Angel can go on top)So thanks to ebay and the beloved husband I have them.

Leelan got a cd of the complete Beowulf... he's asked for it every year.
The next is one of four different dragons Kayleigh got this year. And her big present made possible with her Uncle's help. Which is good, now I can have my little station back she swiped

I LOVE the cat nativity.

Kibby will not wear a watch so I got her a pocket watch with a wolf on the front & one inside. I was mean. I wraped it, put it in a cute box. I put that in a tin. She had to work her way through two boxes, a tin, and a wooden box to get to her watch. She loved it.

She also go a board game and a WII game. I got some perfume, candle set, a bath set a nice fairy shirt (from S.S.) and other odds and ins.

I got a box that Mom put two dragons on in beads, a pink light weight sweet shirt, a black shirt, a small fuzzy blanket, and a bracelet with dragons, a dragon necklace, raindeer socks, a holiday cook book the last few items were from S.S.

My inlaws got me a cassett converter system... meaning, I can now turn all my cassetts into MP4s so I can listen to them again! Aso got some lovely handmade ornaments, a Christmas Angel bracelet, a lucky charm necklace, 2 dvds I wanted, a handmade calender, a handmade tote bag, and a book.

I think watching the daughter open her "heffulump" was the highlight of the day.

Finally got a DVD player to replace the one that stopped working last year. A weighted workout hula hoop which is more fun than the plastic type. Couple of gift cards, one of which is for my Kindle. A pink glass cup with a straw. The rest might not really be interesting - just a logic uzzle book, workout pants, pjs, and clog style slippers. I'd been wanting some for a while but either couldn't afford them or couldn't find some I liked in my size.

Kat, I LOVE your Cat Nativity!

We kept it simple this year. Mostly the Grandkids got their special goodies. Two got Android Tablets, one got a keyboard (from a Pawn Shop so we could get a good one), and another got a 'vintage' Nintendo DS. The ones out of state got gift certificates.

I got an older McCaffrey book that somehow wasn't in my collection, and my hubby got an Android tablet which was slightly better than the grandkid's tablets.

Everyone was happy with their gifts, and we had a wonderful family get together, which was really the best part.

No gifts for me this Christmas... must have been humming "all I want for Christmas is You!" too often while my wife was within hearing distance.

Nah, sometimes I do both "Sinterklaas" AND Christmas but not this year. Us Dutch give each other presents on "Sinterklaas" (the original Santa Claus in December 5th) and then I got
a 7 port USB hub (as 5 wasn't enough anymore)
an electric tootbrush (as mine definitely needed a replacement)
a traditional Sinterklaas present: a chcocolate letter H
two DVD's with documentaries
two sets of warm gloves, one of which without fingertips which I meed for photographing in cold weather

As my birthday is on the 20th I never can complain about not enough presents
But what to get the man who'se alrady got it all...
Well, my wife and son gifted me a nature photography workshop with a professional nature photographer earlier (in November) and my son bought me a nice 10 year old malt whisky. The inlaws gave me $75 which went a good way towards a new, professional tripod I bought.

Most presents very for once not given to me this year, but og course to our very cute baby girl Laura. She got clothes and books (you never can get them started too early on books).
My husband gave me the Mariokart game for my 3DS.

I got a whole bunch of cross stitch kits. The best part was that I went out shopping with my sister, and she had me pick out one of the kits that I wanted, and unbeknownst to us, my aunt who lives in Massachusetts picked out the same one for me. I also got some new papers and stickers for scrap booking, a documentary about Hollywood musicals, and a really warm sweatshirt.

My other favorite bit was that my parents bought one of my sisters and our 3 year old cousin matching penguin pajama bottoms. We haven't gotten a picture of them wearing the matching clothes at the same time yet, but I'm sure we will at some point.

The only place to get one is from ebay. Search under cat nativity.
Be forewarned I've found that the sellers have inflated the price horredously.
When you could buy them new they were 14.99.

Leelan said he paid like 30.00 for mine.. which is acceptable. But some people are asking and crazy people were BIDDING on 100.00.
DON'T be patient and you can get them at a decent price. I'll keep a lookout with you if you'd like

Well, my wife gave me 2 new Grumpy T-shirts, Conan the Barbarian on DVD, and 4 PC games; Crysis 2, Fear 3, Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, and some accessories for our new Wii.

From the rest of the family, I scored a Wii game; Call of Duty 3, a pair of stainless thermal travel drinking "cups", some great flavored teas, a 2011 silver proof coin set, a Harley T-shirt, and several other goodies.

And the best present I've gotten in a very long time came today. My best friend is in town visiting her elderly parents. Her mom had a bunch of really old photo negatives that she wanted copies made of. One of the pictures was of my brother, Sue and myself on our beach when Sue and I were about 4 and my brother about 10. The other is of just Sue and I, and she is holding one of our cuddly old cats. They are especially precious to me as my brother died when I was 13. I plan on getting the enlargement of that one framed.

My favorite gifts were a Kindle and a sling-style camera strap.
Now I'm trying to decide if I should see about returning the physical books I got for xmas in exchane for ebook versions - I'm really finding the Kindle more convenient and comfortable, not to mention my bookshelves already over-flowing.
