I should have been looking at the cake thread. I go into the Games section nearly every day!

I had no idea things were moving so quickly for the two of you. I hope you will be very happy together. I love the theme of the cake. (I've got LotR in the DVD player as I type this!)

Congratulations you two!!

Reading this reminded me so much of hubby and myself! We met online.. were friends 2 years before meeting in person.. then were engaged and married just a year after that! We had to rush things too because he was joining the Army and it was much easier to get the paperwork and such settled if we were already married. Here we are nearly 3 years later with a beautiful daughter and we couldn't be happier!

All of that to say I wish you both the best & hope you're blissfully happy for all of the years to come!

Lindsey, Both my hubby and I read this together and were so pleased and surprised that you and your husband met this way and are so happy together.
We meet on the phone thirty one years ago(no computers back then) and when we finally got together to meet face to face we fell in love almost instantly and were married thrity days later...and this year we are comming up on our Thirty 2nd anniversary in August and still so very happy and in LOVE with each other. Love is wonderful where ever it happens.. .and we wish you, your husband....and Micah and Kalina all the best for your futures.

DG (Dearest (!) Grandaughter) I suspect that you're too up front for the little wimps. Most mid-teen males don't want an equal partner: they want their own personal number one fan.

I was very lucky. My first girlfriend was not only at school with me (a couple of years below me) but also in the same clubs (Choir and Astronomy), AND we were both helping teach swimming to handicapped girls on Saturday afternoons.

It could well have got long and serious only our parents got together and put their collective feet down on it after a few months.

Lily the boys that stand up to me are normally my friends and the one that isn't that stood up to me isn't very attractive to me *giggles* Very doubtful we'd ever get together , we're both too stubborn, hard-headed and our arguements are legendary throughout Yr 10!

P'ter(My dear Gramps! )-Never thought of myself as upfront, just incredibly stubborn, headstrong, cheeky and I'll give my opinions...without giving a damn to my youth! Maybe decking that above mentioned boy scared them all...okay maybe I am upfront!

But if I get a boy...he must be prepared to accept me for who I am...Ugh I'll need another Mr Darcy or even another F'lar for that!

Dragongirl - Don't worry about that, I have the same problem. -Smirks- I've been told by most guys I know that I'm intimidating. I even got the nicknames 'Ice Queen' and 'Satan's Mother' given to me at college. I agree with P'ter though, most guys don't like the fact that women are perfectly capable of looking after themselves.

I'll cheerfully plead incompetance. It took me about five pages of taxact.com before I was calling Daddy for help. I don't mean to come across as competant! (Well, except at work.) I'm socially inept, doesn't that count for something!

And when can we expect an update from the newlyweds?

Right about now!

It was a WONDERFUL day, or rather week! Everything went fairly smoothly (except I forgot to sprinkle the rose petals on the floor and my corsage was forgotten as well Otherwise everything was perfect. We had written out own vows and pretty much everone was crying after we finished reading them. Even the commissioner, which was a real surprise, because they must see this kind of thing all the time! Tons of pictures, we just need to wait to get them back from the photographer.

We have lots of pictures of our own, but I'm bushed right now... but you can at least see the cake!

But we have decided that I'll be moving down there to live when the time comes. So until then we'll be traveling back and forth and staying as long as possible, as much as time off work will allow. It's not as convenient as we'd like, but it'll be worth it in the end My next visit down there will be in May for her birthday.
Double check this one, Spiff. When Nick and I got married, he was granted a Green Card to stay in the States. Of course, that was prior to 9-11, but you won't know until you ask. Go to the Immigration Office IN PERSON. (Of course this only works if you are planning to move south, not her move north.) With the Green Card, you can apply to work in the States. They list you as a Resident Alien, and you can remain as such or not. (It is far cheaper to take citizenship in the long run, because otherwise you pay 500-600$ every five years to renew your RA card.)

That would be really nice if that were true... the only options we've discovered is through me sponsoring him... and no doubt they've really cracked down on things since 9/11. :irked:

No, they always needed sponsers... I didn't make enough, so my Father actually sponsered Nick. A sponser is to ensure the immigrant won't be looking for handouts real fast.

I saw there was something that said if the income couldn't be met by me, there's a way for someone else to sponsor him.

I hope it doesn't come to that, though.

Eep! I hadn't realized that I didn't post any of the actual wedding pictures here! Some here may have seen them on the KT, but for those who haven't -

Congratulations!!!
I'm so sorry for the belated wishes- I am just now reading your story. The photos are so romantic. How wonderful! I wish you both all the best in the world.

The dress is beautiful, the pictures are stunning.... and it is so obvious Spiff adores his bride, since his eyes (and hands) seem to rarely be focused anywhere else!
