Cool Keukenhof Gardens Photos (StevenB)

Here at last are some of the hundreds of photographs I took when Hans and Marjon took me to the Keukenhof Gardens last weekend (alas without Lanen ). No doubt Hans will be posting his pictures too - they looked great on his computer screen.

The entrance:

Me and the muscari river near the entrance (photo taken by Hans):

One of many zillions of tulip beds:

One of my favourite tulip pictures:

More tulips (well, this is the Netherlands after all). I love the contrasting colours in the beds. (Note that the yellow tulips haven't fully opened yet - there are plenty of bulbs holding back until the end of the season):

A regiment of daffodills:

A forest of tulips:

I am well clogged:

The bulb fields (yes there are thousands of tulips, hyacinths and narcisci out there - the scent is wonderful):

I'll post more later.

Thanks. Here are a few more...

Bright colours everywhere:

Hans, Marjon and myself by the bulb fields

Orchids (Hans had some particularly good ones - I'm trying not to overlap with him):

Something Mike Freeman would be interested in (in the tulip exhibition):

Even the water is beautiful:

A riot of colours:

Beautiful Steven!

I love the ones you took from underneath, especially the first. I'm going to have to give that angle a try myself at my next opportunity...

Also love the clogs.

These are wonderful photos Steven and it's easy to see how much you enjoyed yourself...hopefully next time Elizabeth will be able to join you.

We were rolling in laughter with the giant dutch clogs...very cute
photo and a great souvenir of your trip.

You have been suitably clogged at the wonders of tulips. I liked the "clog" photo too and all the different angles, you've provided for us ~ well done

Thanks everyone. In most of my upward looking pictures the camera is resting on the ground. The advantage of a digital camera is that I didn't need to lie on the ground and look through the viewfinder: I just pointed the camera roughly in the right direction and took several pictures, moving the camera a bit each time. The ones that weren't properly framed or focussed were deleted on the spot. For the tulip forest I pushed the camera in amongst the tulips to get the mouse's eye view.

I didn't have a macro lens with me, but some of the flowers were large enough to make good close ups without one:

Hans and I both tried to photograph this view without anyone standing in the way. It's harder than it sounds when there are thousands of visitors and lots of photographers trying to do the same thing.

Only just now had the time to have a look, Steven, but they are all great

The series is obviousy proof that you enjoyed the Keukenhof garden despite a "definite and lamented lack of elizabethan presence".

Thanks. I had a great time, despite missing Elizabeth.

My next project will be a photograph of Elizabeth and I both at the Keukenhof.
