Post MQ2007 - November 10-11

We've finally picked a date for McCaffrey Quest 2007, November 10-11. Yes, we're missing the month of October once again; offline life has delayed our preparations. But this means you have a couple extra weeks to prepare yourselves, so hooray!

The Quest will likely actually start on the evening of Fri Nov 9 (depending on your time zone), and run until sometime Mon Nov 12. Like last year, the challenge will mostly consist of multiple choice questions, with a few open-ended short answer questions. The total number of questions will be approximately 100-120.

The top 10% of entrants will be eligible for a prize from our fabulous prize pool (we'll post this year's list soon), and the grand prize winner will be able to select from a select few books signed by Anne McCaffrey!

Our topic this year is Early Pern and Tower & Hive. The specific books to be covered are:
  • Dragonsdawn
  • Chronicles of Pern
  • Dragonseye/Red Star Rising
  • The Rowan
  • Damia
  • Damia's Children
  • Lyon's Pride
  • The Tower and the Hive

HOORAY!!! I really can use this extra bit of time to get ready. As I need to listen to a few more of my *Talent* series book tapes...especially the newer *The Tower and the Hive*.

Ooh, this is very exciting.
I hope I can set off some time for this. Last year I was too busy planning to move to a new flat, and this year it seems most of my free time in November is also going to be spend planning a move.

I reread the Tower & Hive series a couple of months ago, and today I actually finished a book (James Herriot), so I could actually begin to reread the Pern books relevant to this years quest tomorrow.

I'm going to have to rely on memory and websites this year.

The reading list for an English Student at this uni is already a Novel and a journal a week. >.< I'm a fast reader...but not that fast.

Maw, find yourself a comfy chair...a pile of your books, or the files on your computer that contain your McCaffrey E-books, that are on the list...and just sit down and enjoy it....you will never know how well you can do, until you have done one.
Belive me it is a lot of fun to race through all your books, trying to find all the different answers that are needed to finish. Oh yes lets not forget the best part, coming on here to nervouly wait with the rest of us while all the *Quest* papers are UGGGGGGGGG.........CORRECTED.....

This does look like it could be a lot of fun. Tower and Hive is one of the series of books that I have never read, although I think my grandmother has them in her house somewhere, and I don't have time to read all those books with all my school work.

Also, that weekend, my Theatre class is planning on taking a trip to Montreal to see a play. Good luck to everyone who is going to do it. I know I will have fun on my trip.

I was supposed to go to a workshop that weekend, but I have decided not to go. Don't want to miss out. I remember last year, I had something to do and it really took away from my searching for answers.

Speaking of moving, could we ask any of you who are active on other McCaffrey-related sites to pass the word about the Quest and the date? The more entries, the more prizes, so it's in everyone's interests to encourage a large entry

Oh man -- that's Webelos Woods weekend. Hubby & I plan to be camping out with eldest son. Hmmm.... Maybe I can skip and HE can take the son. I'll stay home and answer questions....

I know my Pegasus and Crystal Singer stuff.... Now to make sure I have the early Pern books and re-read them. Hmmm... I just finished Ship Who Sings today, so I just need to go get a new book off the shelf...

I'm starting to get very excited again with the dat looming very near. I have started collecting my books and setting up a place where I can work like a crazy person, to find the answers to the questions that you stafters have gathered to confound all of us Questers.
Looks like my husband is going to feed me goodies again this year, while I am hard at it...since I will need all my strength hefting books to and fro all weekend long....what a way to spend a weekend...
