Hans you're so clever! Nicely done! The harp is so close to the actual design on the original. It's obvious why you chose that particular image to use. Great fun!

Are you crazy Jube, ruining a good Malt by giving the good MoMers a chance to just throw it in the back of their throats from a shot glass?

Though there is a company in Ireland that makes nice glasses they call shot glasses but that do have a good shape for nosing and tasting whisky...

Hans...nice glass...who did that lovely Harp design for you? I love what you did with the box, and all the Pern that you put on it ...Robinton would have greatly enjoyed a present like that from one of his Archivist...

The glass is for sale as is, Maelin, I didn't make it. This is the famous Glencairn (crystal) wiskey glass, their website is here. However, this particular Glencairn glass is sold by Cobhthaigh Celtique.

The harp is applied with something my mother used to do, translated from Dutch the name is something like cold stained glass. The colours are a modern, plastic compound that can be used in colour of gray. When used in gray you can apply a thin layer of it between the "ridges", so you get a stained glass effect.

The coat of arms my mum made for me and is hanging behind the glass, since I renovated my hallway (in 2007), of my front door is made with this technique.

As for the harp design for the whisky box and bottle... Erm, I knicked that from the internet somewhere

As you already know I love the door...and the coats of arms that your Mother did for you...but did you buy your whiskey glass with the harp on it...or did your Mother do that for you as well?

Maelin, I just took the picture of the glass from internet, from the site with Celtic art I mentioned. I don't own the glass that is shown.

The probelem with glasses like the one I showed is that they are very nice but mostly they are not dishwasher safe and even if washed by hand the application wears off after time.

Hans I love the bottle but I'm not a big fan of whisky. My drinks are rum and voka(sp?). besides right now it's too early(9:15am) for me to start thinking about gettig drunk.

That Celtique place has several neat glasses they sell with designs on them.....there's the Irish Harp that Hans showed us and then a Scottish Thistle and a Welsh Dragon.....all are very nice looking. I'd be afraid to use them tho. As Hans said even hand washing can cause the paint to come off....but they're ever so pretty.

Oh I misunderstood...I thought you bought the glass, but then had the harp put on by your Mother...walks off thumping head for eyeball realignment...again....
Well whatever...the glass is lovely, and it might do very nicely in your collection.
