Default Rerelease of Mercedes Lackey's Diana Tregarde books

I read on her website a few weeks back that Tor was rereleasing them. Today, I saw Burning Water in a Trade paperback at Barnes and Noble. The Tor website doesn't have dates for the releases of the other two, but hopefully they'll be along

Jinx High. The three books are Burning Water, Children of the Night and Jinx High.

I thought so . . . Jinx High is the only one I have. I got it because it is set in the Tulsa-Jenks area . . . Memorial Drive is the 'main drag' from 41st street to Bixby . . . and I graduated Union High School!

Children of the Night was the only one I read and I loved it esp. the Vampire.

I wish she'd write more Diana Tregarde books. I loved all three, and would like to see her continue with them.

I do have an issue of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine with a Diana Tregarde story in it.

Considering the controversy regarding these books I was surprised to see them being re-released.

Me too, Flinx. Hopefully they'll get a different response this time.

Cherlyn, the first Mercedes Lackey book I read was Chrome Circle because it was set around Tulsa. I thought it was cool that I knew exactly where she was talking about - except for the few alterations. I felt the same way about Jinx High.

US rerelease or UK or both? *g*

I have an ongoing arguement with the local Waterstones who insist Misty doesn't exist *rolls eyes* but when I go with ISBNs etc. strangly they seem to appear in the catalogue and they can get them across the pond for me even when Amazon can't *g*

Actually, direct from Mercedes when I met her.

I am so jealous. How did you get to meet her? It was her Valdemar series that introduce me to fantasy.

Mercedes and Larry were two of the guests at SwanCon.
SwanCon is the annual convention done by the Western Australian Science Fiction Foundation (WASFF), with this year's one being their 31st.
This was only the third time I've attended because it is so far away, on the other side of the country.
It takes a really special guest that I'm interested in to get me to attend, plus most times I never got to hear about it until it was almost too late.
My suitcase was half full with books for signing.
I'd been reading fantasy long before I had heard of Mercedes Lackey but the first story I read by her was in Friends Of The Horseclans II, anthology for Robert Adams' Horseclans series.
Never read the Valdemar series, and probably never will.
To cut back on my collections I've decided that I'd try to limit myself to one series per author, but it doesn't always work with really favourite authors.
With Mercedes I have the variously linked Urban Fantasies series of Diana Tregarde Investigations, Bedlam's Bard, The SERRAted Edge & the upcoming fourth series. This also doesn't take into account various stand-alone, collections & anthology appearances. So I figure that is enough to collect from her.

That is so cool Flinx. My dearest friend introduced me to her Valdemar series when we were in high school. It is my fav of her series.

Posted this over at NKT, so thought I better post it here too.

About the new series from Mercedes.

Here is what was reported in the June issue of Locus.
Quote:
Mercedes Lackey & Rosemary Edghill sold four-book YA series Arcanum 101 to Susan Chang at Tor Teen via Russell Galen.
When I met Mercedes, she told me that Arcanum 101 would set around a school for magic-talented children. It would feature Diana Tregarde as one of the teachers & a number of other characters from the Bedlam Bards series, including Ria who would be financing the school.

I found all three of the Diana Tregarde books bundled together at a yard sale and bought them for a quarter, read them and passed them along to my sister-in-law who loves SF/fantasy, but doesn't have any money to spend on books.

For me books fall into three categories: 1) books I enjoy enough to read more than once, 2) books I enjoy, but will only read once, and 3) everything else. This series fell into category 2 which was why I could bring myself to give them away. (I don't lend my treasured books any longer having long since learned my lesson.)

I should ask my sister-in-law if she read them and what she thought of them.
