Questions on sticklebush,& other navtive plants - A Meeting of Minds

Its talked about in The Gift of Dragons: Runner of Pern, with its slivers and sap being bad it sound like a native plant, with pro e.g. berry in fall, and bad e.g. slives in spring with not leaves show and sap running, kinda reminds me of the Southern type thorns talked about in DoP and that bad sea thorn, which we never see, which is worst.

I'm look for more aid in working on my fan write idea, and this one has been stewing in my mind for a bit.
