Cool Eurocon 2007 - T-shirts, take 2

Here's the front and back designs for the tshirt, as it now stands:

We'll be making white tshirts, in mens and womens cuts, through CafePress. Only MoM members going to EuroCon are eligible to buy a shirt; after EuroCon is over a slightly different version will be available for all MoM members who are interested.

In August I'll get the pricing information for the shirt finalized, and people will place their order with me. I will then bring all the shirts with me to Eurocon.

We'll be getting an extra shirt to gift to Anne. We hope she might consent to sign all of our shirts, and we also are planning to sign each other's shirts.

Please post any questions you have, or comments on the design, in this thread. I want to get the design finalized in a week or so, and then be ready to take orders for it.

That's a beautiful picture of Anne! What would be the possibility of selling prints of just the picture of Anne as well as T-shirts? I'm not sure I'd wear a shirt, but a print, on the wall, next to the computer?!

This is Lady Maelin's artwork, so any possible usages are up to her.

Cilla, I'll make sure she sees the question about prints.

Maw, because we are planning to do official MoM shirts I suspect the answer to your using the image on shirts will be no, but again I'll make sure Lin sees the question.

OOooohh, hmmmmm. Maybe prints signed by the artist at a slightly higher price, than plain ones?! I'd love to have this framed on my wall among my small collection of Anne treasures!

Maw, Since I agreed to the use of Anne's new Portait for the Eurocon T-shirts, and they won't be issued until September...I will have to say "NO" to your request of putting Anne's portriat on a t-shirt of your own design, that would also be worn before we have gone to Eurocon and presented the First one to Anne....Sorry!!!

If after we return however...you or any other member of MoM, still wishes to have one of the t-shirts with Anne's new portrait on them... then we will send one out to you. I as yet don't know what they will cost...but it will only be what Cafe'press charges...as I don't charge for any of my Anne McCaffrey work.

I will not issue a direct scan of any of my art work to anyone other than Cheryl and Hans from Meeting of Minds...!!

Cheryl,I do have a suggestion....I would like to see those ugly flowers that are left on the side..disapear!!! To me they look silly just floating out there all by themselves. I wouldn't mind keeping the tails, and Anne's elbow...like we talked about eariler today...
Does it look like it needs some kind of border around the whole outside edge...so it isn't just floating on the shirt. You could maybe put one the includes the writing that you did under it...that would finish it all nicely... in my mind. but others are welcome to make their own comments....PLEASE!!!

I think it looks great.

I'm not sure I have anything against the "floating flowers", but it definitely looks good with the thin black border.

In any case, I think that Maeling should have the final word on the design, since it is her name under the drawing.

I most definitely want a t-shirt, so if I for some reason forget to look in on this thread, I hope someone will send me a reminder when it's time to tell Cheryl that I'm ordering one.

Nef, I think the plan is that Cheryl takes our tshirts to Copenhagen. We might want to consider paying before she orders them or at the con in Danish money (she then can spend there)?

Sorry Hans ...I should never have put the border on the portriat in the first place ...especially with all the problems with getting rid of all the different parts of it . I know you took a lot of your own time to cut the black off and leave the flowers...I do appriciate your efforts ...but it does look much better now with them gone.

Maelin, I'll go with the majority but I like the way that the previous Anne portrait (which, of course, had no border) was designed on the tshirt is SO much better!

It just appeals to me much more when there is no confining border, as if the art can expand or flow in the eyes of the beholder. Picture elog in a frame, tshirt don't. But that's just my humble opinion.

On the frist one I use fading in the background...but normally I like to frame my drawings one way or the other...a personal habit/choice...and I have always enjoyed doing the intricate borders when I'm working in Pen and Ink. With this one...I just couldn't figure out how to finish it off...I should have known that Cheryl or you could do that for me very nicely indeed.

I love the new T-Shirt design, and I will certainly buy one when Cheryl is ready to sell them. If there's a lot of interest in this T-shirt I'll be happy to contibute to Cheryl's excess baggage as well!

Hans, have you thought of taking along some tippex for your own T-shirt?

Hmm... that might be a solution, Steven

Or maybe I could lock up a fair damsel in the solarium where she would painstakingly embroider the border away for me?

Which solution would be more likely...

Hans, That's exactly what I'm going to be doing with the Eurocon t-shirt when I get it home...I'm going to put it in a t-shirt frame, and hang it on the wall, with all the signatures of the members plus hopefully Anne's if her hands are feeling pretty good on that day showing through the glass/plastic!!! .

Cheryl, Those laundry markers are also very good at not fading or having the inks spreading when you write with them on material. They should be great to use no matter what we want to do with the t-shirts once we get back to our homes with them!!!

Hans, I thought you might reconsider wearing this one...once you had a few signatures on it

A thought to consider: Perhaps we might want to consider putting the signatures on the front of the shirt under the portriat...so that when we do get back home and want to frame it...all the signatures would all be on the front instead of the portrait on the front, and the signatures on the back?????

I kind of like the idea of the names next to the date and place of where we all met. Maybe you could buy two shirts so you could have one signed on the back and the other with the front next to it. You would of course need a huge frame.

Well I guess you could cut your shirt into two pieces to show both the front and the back at the same time .............sorry I couldn't help myself, I've got the silly's today. Must be from thinking about going...its getting very close now

Seriously though...they do have t-shirt frames now that are clear plastic on both sides...and you kind of sandwich your t-shirt inbetween both pieces. When you want you just flip your frame over to show which side you like the best...and then back again when you get tired of it.

At this point I've chucked the idea of printing the names of those of us who are going on the back of the shirt, which would have made it more likely that the back would be signed. Which means everyone can decide which side they'd like to have signed individually.

Cheryl, Oh no....I didn't mean for you to not put the names on shirts, the names on the t-shirts would be good!!! Sorry...yesterday I was being terribly silly...Please... take no notice of my teasing.

I'd decided that before this, Lin, no worries! It was going to be hard to squeeze them in, which then wouldn't allow for room to sign by/under each.

Lady M, On this T-shirt your signature is going to be the important one (although I'd love Anne's as well). Start training your signing hand...
