Maw, your goat looks just like one my daughter used to have. Nice to see he's recovered from his ordeal. The kitten is precious. I think I should tell you about a kitten I had as a teenager. He suffered a similar injury and seemed to recover reasonably well. He grew to over 20 pounds and was really beautiful. The trouble started when he was about a year old. He developed epilepsy and started having seizures. The vet tried medicines but they either had no effect at all or made him too sleepy to even eat. The seizures kept getting worse and worse and when he was three we had to have him put down. He was half Persian, solid white with long hair. The problem could have been related to that more than the injury but it's impossible to be sure. I'm not wishing any bad thing to happen to your little beauty, I just thought I ought to warn you about something to watch out for. Also, that was in the 1960's and it's likely that a lot of advancements in feline medical care have been made since then. I hope things work out better for you.

I've also had a bad experience with a brain damaged kitten, and that was in the 90s. Ours didn't even last 3 years. He was a mix, I think - gray tabby on the back, tail and ears, white everywhere else. He could go from sweet to mean in a minute - so mean it took a broom to hold him off at one point. Think we only had him a few months before we had to put him down.
I should add though, we were never sure if it was brain damage or a tumor, or both. So, Mawra, I hope yours is a sweet little guy who lives a long, healthy life.

We know that we may run into problems when he gets older. That is one of the reasons we are keeping him. He is doing better every day. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

The goat is named Aries. Not sure that naming the goat after the god of war was a good idea.

GOod for you, mawra. A lot of people might have changed their minds at the mention of problems. ANd Aries is a good name for a goat. I think, lol.

Male goats are really billy goats. Aries fits him. I have for the most part broken him of head butting IF I have a water sqirt bottle. He will look to see if you have one. If you do then you are safe if not he will get you.

In domestic breeds, the males are called billies. In wild breeds, like the Rocky Mountain and Big Horns, they are called Rams. Aries the Ram in the zodiac is a goat.

I thought that big horns were sheep. I also did not know that male wild goats were called something different than pet goats.

I thought the other name for a male goat (besides "billy") was a buck.

Sheep and goats are in the same subfamily, Caprinae. According to Wikipedia, I was right. Intact male goats are called bucks or billies, while females are nannies or does. Most breeders prefer to use buck and doe to billy and nanny.

Aries is the ram. Capricorn is the sea-goat.

Either way, it still is a good name for a goat. Anybody who has been around them can tell you they butt like bighorn sheep, believe themselves to be gods, and will declare war on anybody or anything with or without provocation. (Gotta love 'em!)

That sounds like Aries. He likes to stand at the top of the house ramp and play king of the ramp. He usually wins. The only one that will argue with him is our large lab mix, Sammy.
Sammy tries to take Arie's food. Sammy barks and Aries head butts. If they really get into it the winner is going to be the vets

The other night Hubby was playing with a lazer light out his window. He had the cats chasing the red dot. When the dot was in front of Aries. Aries head butted the red dot. It was the funniest thing to watch.

My aunt had a goat, Sally Ann... swear she thought she was a dog! She used to love to go for rides in the truck or jeep. Saw my aunt getting in the Spectrum one day, and tried to jump in the back as always.... Spectrums don't have open backs. Sally hit the truck, and slid off on her butt. The look on her face!

Aries does not like where I have him chained during the day. He has been yelling all day today and yesterday. He is on the lower part of the property. I have no idea why he does not like it there. It is shady, he has water and he has lots of food there. It is the same grass as he has up closer to the house. I think he just does not like to be that far from the house. Not that it is all that far. I can still see and hear him.
